This has been a recurring theme for O. His first year at OM, he whiffed on Kiffin, whiffed on Sark, and ended up settling for Noel Mazzone. After hiring him, O forced him to run the USC offense, which was nothing like his. When that predictably failed, O fired him. He then whiffed on Hue Jackson and ended up settling for Werner. Not learning his lesson the first time, he constantly meddled in Werner’s offense, also.

In media interviews last year O acknowledged that the meddling in the offense was a big factor in his downfall at Ole Miss. I really believed that he had finally learned his lesson. But it seems like he’s at it again.

Why hire O when he basically admits to doing absolutely nothing on the staff and sucking $3 million+ out of a university like a vampire?

I was also told that Canada was pushed on O.

Exactly. But we still have delusional fans that don’t see he’s doing the same thing he did at OM. The only difference is his roster at LSU was stocked full of 4 and 5 stars when he took over, although that may not be the case much longer.

Don't worry, they'll wake up next year. LSU has a brutal schedule and everyone in the SEC is getting better. He got lucky this season with a major down year in the SEC where several coaches got fired. He still lost to Troy a historically bad loss. Nothing can change that.

Because Canada probably is a great coordinator, just not a great fit.

I think year 2 will/would show a very competent offense in this league. But if there is a rift, let the dude go find a better fit

I agree on Enos being a good fit for what O apparently wants.

And he needs a job.

So. Where am I wrong?

O goes and hires Canada. It's his choice. One would presume that O based this off of some familiarity with just what type of offensive scheme Canada runs, right?

But early into the season, he wants to meddle with Canada's scheme, and now he appears to favor a different style offense than the one his hand-picked OC runs??

If you think that sounds like a rational, professional long term approach to running a successful football program, then you need to really think a bit more on it.

That’s kind of my point. Didn’t O know this when he hired Matt? If not, why the hell didn’t he?

Why hire an OC who’s philosophy didn’t mesh with the head coach?

because O didnt hire him, alleva did and O had a veto power if he had a better option they could get.

now be honest and think what better options were out there at the time that O could have come up with and an alternate to hire?

Word is O is a yes man to the administration while Miles was not. It would make sense Canada is more Alleva's decision than O and that might explain why O meddled as well as wanting a different offense. They don't get along.

I know how that sounds and yes, we're in a shite storm. Going to be painful to watch this team slowly fall apart under O.

the AD of any school should have no say so in a coach hiring a coordinator
