One of the best at what he does. He's been a DC forever, even has the ole AHC label now.

Because he’s 80 years old already, and never been a HC. He’s been at VT since 1987, if he wanted to be a HC, he would’ve been by now.

I believe it's a combination of a) having atrocious interview skills and b) refusing to take a HC job unless it's at a Power 5 school

I was being sarcastic, but at 60 he’s never been a HC, and he’s been at the same school for 30 years. What P5 school is looking for a HC that’s 60 with no HC experience?

He did contact UGA when we were looking for a coordinator but went with Pruitt instead I believe it got Bud a nice raise . Seems like a good guy good coach just never applied himself for the head man

He was a finalist for the CLemson job in '08. He turned down offers from Sumlin, Bowden, Jimbo, Dabo, & Spurrier.
He wanted one head coaching job, he didn't get, but chose to stick around. He got hire 30 years ago, still in the same office, just making $1,200,000 more than when he started. He is looking at one hell of a pension, considering he is only 58.
