correct

a) he tends to be a prick so his players hate him, which hurts recruiting and leads to players leaving

since he's reported as being a prick the school's administration won't like him

he did bad at Tampa Bay

yep

they guy would have have been a terrible hire... and everyone knows why he was considered for UT... he was Curries boy... it was reported that their families often vacationed together... the guy is a terrible coach.. Id bet money Meyer would love to have him go somewhere else.. he just wont fire him... the old les miles way..

A better question is why hasn't Greg Schiano filed a lawsuit against Tennessee yet?

Both parties are probably in negotiations now to "avoid" law suit.

How did Tennessee drag his name through the mud? I know their fans did, but how is that on Tennessee?

The number of truth bombs being dropped in this thread is surprising.

The media told me he was an excellent head coaching candidate.

I hope you don't believe everything the media tells you. He wasn't a good hire for Tenn as HC regardless of the Sandusky issue. In 11 seasons at Rutgers his overall record was 68–67 w/ a Big East record of 28–48. His NFL record was only 11-21 in 2 seasons.

Nobody wanted him before and now they really don’t want him.

There is this thing called, "defamation of character." If there was a scenario it applied to, this would be it. It's how he'll be judged from now on in the court of public opinion. He's a top notch recruiter and coordinator, but he should aim a bit smaller first and then work his way to a program like UT.

That's a very good question. And the Tards will say it's because of Tennessee, but he wasn't on the radar for any big HC gig before the VolTwitter backlash.

So I hope someone gives us a legitimate answer here

It's because of Tennessee fans.

He'll get looks next season. I don't know what else to tell you. You're wrong on this one.

Explain to me who exactly did this? The University of Tennessee? All the university did was not hire him after a public outcry, to my knowledge the actual university said nothing negative about him. I'm not a lawyer but there certainly seems to be plenty of loopholes to get out of that.

I'm sure UT may pay him something to move on from the situation, but that's simply to put it behind them. I think its a 50/50 at best case for Schiano in any court.

You want to believe this more than Tennessee fans want to believe the Grumors, but it simply isn't so.

I'm sorry bro, I know it's hard.

I didn't say that. As I see it, the basis for a suit from Schiano is because Tenn breached the contract ("Memorandum of Understanding") both parties committed to. OTOH, I've also read that the Memorandum may not have been binding because it had not yet been signed by the President of the University or similar official. The reporting on this has been VERY sketchy and inadequate; most of the reporting has been aimed at the "social media" aspect of the affair.

Who, in any official capacity at the University of Tennessee, could he claim defamed him?

I'll wait

This is true. He may not have a case for breach of contract, but he's probably gonna paid something anyway. And he should. I think Tennessee will want to move on, and so will Schiano.

whoa there counselor. the university of Tennessee did not approve his hire. that is their right. I have not seen any official statement of why the did this. yes, the fans, the legislature and the governor expressed themselves so maybe they should be sued.

in other words, there is no proof of defamation. UT may pay the guy a fee for his "troubles" and a afidavet not to file suit but defamation is damn hard to prove. not to mention the guy probably doesn't and certainly should not want any more bad publicity than he already has.

to me, it's justice. the bastard knew about boys being raped and he turned a blind eye.

Let's remember something right here: before his buddy Urban swooped in and offered the DC position at OSU, Schiano was COACHING HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FOR 2 YEARS. I don't recall any big-time HC offers or anything being extended to him in the aftermath of his Tampa Bay debacle, in fact I wasn't aware he was still coaching in big-time college football until Twitter exploded with the reports of UTK's intention to hire him as HC.

Because he watched his boss hump a 12 year old boy and did nothing about it.

Herbstreit and a few other media members are the only people upset about it.

I mean, we don't know from a verified, unimpeachable perspective that he actually did such HOWEVER he was on Sandusky's staff for 5 seasons so that could create the reasonable inference that something along those lines may have happened. The Sandusky child sex abuse is alleged to have started around the 1970s and the early 1990s(when Schiano was on staff) was implicated in the investigation and charges filed.
