Why aren't people talking about Tim DeRuyter?

He should be one of the hottest new coaching names IMO.

Back when Sherman was at A&M, I really wished he would retire, and we would promote DeRuyter. He can flat out coach. Watching him lead an open practice was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

One of the best defensive minds out there but I think recruiting is an issue.

Surprised he isn't getting more pub for the UW job. He would be a good fall back if they miss on Mora. He would take the job and he has won as a HC already

I will say that the one weird thing about DeRuyter is that Air Force is his dream job. If Calhoun were to leave or get fired, DeRuyter would bolt.

that would be my concern with him. I like Coach DeRuyter a lot and his DC Nick Toth (he was our LB coach) is going to be a star. Toth's got "it" but neither one of them likes to recruit. And I think that always limits you. Wherever DeRuyter goes, he's going to need to hire some big time recruiting assistants.

Btw, our defensive staff under Sherman was great on Xs and Os but outside of Terrell Williams not one could recruit a lick. You can see the effect of that on our current defense.
