ETA not a strong recruiter compared to coaches in the SEC at least

And thinking about how people got on Les about his loyalty to his BBQ buddies as assistants, what about when the underperformers are family members?

i don't think Pelini is ready for this job ... when Osborn hired him .. Nebraska was almost desperate and getting farther removed from its successful roots ... also, he had huge NU ties ... but he really hasn't proven a whole lot to me in his three years there ... sure, he hired a much better staff than Callahan had .. but took advantage of a very very weak Big 12 North to make it to two title games ... really blew it this season against Oklahoma and missed his golden chance last year against Texas ... i would just like to see Pelini win a conference championship and play in a BCS game at least once before he moves on to a job of this caliber ..

Not only is bo bat shite crazy, carl is too. With bo we probably get his meat-head twin. How did his team do down the stretch and bowl game? He certainly did a good job preparing his team in the bowl game for a team they previously beat (easily).

And he is doing it at a place where it is tough to recruit IMO.

He is not a good representative. His pass D scheme is not good at all. He does not have the energy and charisma we need to dominate recruiting. Concerned about what his staff would look like. I don't like him at all.

This. I'm not in the business of helping schools choose coaches and LSU has owned State in football 18 of the last 20 years, but it's been a while since I've seen a coach get as down right angry on the field as Pelini.

#16 isn't that great and have you figured that maybe it isn't really him but his staff?

Actually...#16 is pretty damn good...or do you not follow recruiting that closely?

And if it's his staff and not him...then so be it...

But #16 at Neb translates to like #5 at LSU...easily. This isnt your Dad's Nebraska where everyone wants to go play there.

Now that is kinda odd considering he exerts a lot of energy on the sidelines.

He's done a nice job at Nebraska, he's familiar with us and the SEC. Our defenses were stout when he was here. Am I missing something?

All true. However, what offense does he bring to the table? The option? Also, he had a very talented team this year - popular pick for the NC - and managed to lose to Texas and failed to meet any of the preseason expectations. His team was not well prepared for any of their big games this year, IMO. I saw them 3-4 times throughout the year.

As far as his defensive prowess, we have Chavis already, and it is apparent that Chavis and Pelini run two completely different defensive styles. The two of them could not coexist at LSU, and if we lose Miles and Chavis in the next two weeks, you can kiss this class goodbye.

He's an angry, kind of idiosyncratic guy, not very personable at all. His defenses are pretty good, but he's no Saban or even Charlie Strong. He's had some success at Nebraska, but he's also feasted on a weak Big 12 North. I think LSU could do better

Has this been discussed about Pelini?

Pelini and the promise to the serviceman

And I agree on the anger issues. The guy is a ticking bomb.

LSU can land at least 5 to 7 better HCs than Pelini, even in this lean market.

Mack and Sark absolutely undressed Bo this year, they themselves with total hot-garbage teams, on the road and at a neutral site(in a revenge game)..

You guys really want a gruff media-shy sweatshirt wearing HC at LSU, to battle Saban, his national-scope recruiting, his eloquence at the mic..why not just go ahead and concede the West to Bama!

For all Miles lack of verbosity and smooth public speaking, he's in another stratosphere than Pelini in terms of recruiting. He is also affable and personable, never gruff publicly.

LSU's current staff already has a man with more SEC defensive skins on the wall running it's Defense, than Pelini and his brothers. A man that wants to stay at LSU , and in the SEC. A man that with the right offensive HC hire, may be retained, should that HC be ok with it.

Look at the NE scout ratings this year before we make that assumption.
Remember NE does NOT have the instate talent to draw on that LSU benefits from greatly

FIFY

Not only do we get a loose cannon at HC, but we get his piss poor staff as well.

If Bo comes here we can all but say goodbye to Chief, Wilson, Brick, AND possibly some key members to this years recruiting class (don't ask for a link. How many would want your kid to come and play for this guy?).

Sark would be a really good hire if LSU could lure him away from the west coast IMO

Plus the fact that he mocked a member of our military.

Pelini is an opportunistic liar, and will eventually embarrass LSU like he did Nebraska.

yeah .. that shite he did in san diego was classless .. he already had fricked up his season by blowing that lead against oklahoma in the big 12 title game and being stuck playing a dangerous 6-6 washington team .. what would it have hurt to let someone call a fricking play ? any LSU fan with half a brain should be very concerned with him losing to a 5-win texas team at home badly .. blowing that lead against okie and having a team TOTALLY unprepared against a middle of the road pac 10 team in a bowl game ... his resume ain't there yet ..

You're right, he doesn't have the resume. Factor that in with the fact that on and off the field, he cannot control his anger? Tells kids what they want to hear, whether it's true or not?

If this is the best LSU can do, after winning National Championships twice last decade, it is a sad statement about the Tigers.

LSU deserves, and can do much, much better.
