TCU has 8,696 students and it's in an urban area with professional sports.
With a very rich alumni base.

$105 million stadium renovation for TCU
The project, fully funded by 34 donors
LSU could not do that. And season tickets have something to do with athletic funds, but it is also tied to conference allocated funds and alumni donations.

TCU isn't LSU, and it certainly can't "buy and sell" Les Miles.
I may have overspoke, but TCU can pay Patterson just as much as LSU and possibly more. They aren't hurting for money and their situation will be getting better with the move to the Big East.

I know that his name will always be on the list for jobs, but I never get the sense that he will jump on any offers.
Some people around here seem to think that all coaches are like Bobby Petrino. There are a lot of damn good coaches that just aren't gonna come here for a pile of money.
I'd give LSU no more chance at Patterson, Peterson, or Whittingham than I would at Stoops, Saban, or Gruden.
Realistically we are probably looking at Mullen or Tubby if Les ditches us. Some of you wacko anti-Miles guys will probably jerk off for a week over those hires (and Miles being out of here) but I just don't get it.

LSU doesn't need to renovate a 40,000-seat stadium. Not only is LSU making more money per year with far greater fan support, but it's also in a more lucrative conference. TCU having richer alumni doesn't mean they can pay more than LSU, especially when a small concentration of their biggest donors just shelled out a ton of money. Patterson probably isn't leaving TCU, but he'll never make $5 million per year there -- it's not smart for a tiny school with that kind of fan support to pay so much.

Cash, I think when timlan said he would "enjoy the meltdown", he was talking about the meltdown that would happen on this board, not the meltdown of the program itself. So the link doesn't really qualify...
