Who WANTS to be here

That is the question. Im sure they had a plan to interview multiple people for the DC job. Freeman obviously was choice 1. We aren't re-starting here, we are now re-evaluating to the best possible option for the the team.
Let me start with just 1 name. Muschamp
I look at this guy as a guy who would want to be here, has a relationship with O and would re-establish himself in his comfort zone with just being a DC as opposed to a HC. More important I see stability and commitment. I mean where would he go from here? Sure another HC job but I just dont see it. Who knows.
Or they go the route of building their name to another level with our program like
Reeves, Arnett, Lukabu

Returning to your former job is tough. It doesn't seem to work out as well as the first run. I'd have to pass on Muschamp. I think you continue to look for the next up and coming coach. Keep looking for the Freeman's and Aranda's. Just hired two guys like this on offense. Do the same thing on Defense. At the end of the day it's really about fit. Gotta find the right person that fits the program, fits with the other coaches on the staff and can connect with the players. I'm not sure Muschamp is that fit. I'd prefer to not reach back and try to recreate something of the past. The program is different today. Keep moving forward.

When is the last time you saw an elite Muschamp defense?

No. I agree. I was just using his name as an example. I could see someone like him of just wanting to be somewhere where he can settle. Like a Venables type of coach in what they have at Clemson.

He had 2 corners that’ll probably go in the first 2 rounds this year and his defense just didn’t look good. Hell, his secondary made TJ look like the future of the program.

Ed tried that with Pelini. And from what I heard Pelini wanted to be at Uclub more than football ops. I don’t care if guys use us as a springboard. Once you establish that springboard you’ll have the top guys constantly calling so that it won’t matter in 2 years if they’re still here because their replacement will always be calling and looking to be better than they were. Really solid domino effect if you can get it in place.

I never said Muschamp, Im using him as example. Again, we need someone here that will stay and want to be here. Even Freeman is looking for a ticket to be a HC eventually
