Where we stand currently in LSU Head Coach Hire

Yes we are still in the race but a bit deeper than what some claim to know (including Feldman). Nothing will be announced before the end of the season as several have said here before. Riley was always going to get a counteroffer from OU hence the soft denial publicly. OU IS NOT GOING TO MATCH OUR OFFER. The current atmosphere in the Big 12 with OU and Texas announcing the move to the SEC deems it impossible to stay in conference another year. The looming $76-$80 million dollar buyout is not going to be let go of by the Big 12 (my source in the OU AD made that very clear even before we ever offered Riley). OU is currently scrambling to put together something hence all the recent leaks and Feldman’s denial (he’s just a grifter similar to Windhorst and LeBron).
Any big name HC in college football knows you cannot trust the media period particularly when you’re negotiating to leave big name job for another one and you aren’t under fire. Riley is no different and isn’t absent of that fact. I’m not going to be cryptic as some have been about this deal but it is not at a stalemate nor is it Riley leaning towards staying despite OU media attempting to persuade the masses of that. Have patience and have faith, LSU is firmly established in the SEC and our program knows what it takes to win in the SEC. OU does not and they will have have their bubble popped in recruiting and on the field until they make the adjustment to SEC football.
These are all factors in this decision for Riley and my source stated as much. The one thing the media isn’t and won’t report on is the fact that yes Riley made a promise but he has been at OU a few years now and does NOT want to live in Stoops shadow nor play second fiddle. His record has spoken for itself. Don’t dismiss Riley making his own legacy at a school primed for success currently vs a school that will have to adjust to a different caliber of competition while they attempt to stop living in the past…

If we don't get Lincoln and we settle for Napier over Aranda, I fricking melt big time

This whole he promised, guilt tripping shite is terrible.
I promise I’m talking $12.5m if my current school doesn’t pay that. Call me Guilty as charged

What is this promise he made? I keep seeing reference to it but can’t find anything on it

With all due respect, I really think you just made all this up

So your source is still saying Riley is leaving for LSU?

No offense taken bud, does no good to get offended with all the trolls around here anyway. My source isn’t LSU related so I can’t speak on that side. They were cleared out when Woodward got there (thankful really). This source is at OU.

Don't want Tucker either but would take him over Napier.
I guess Napier is too good to prove himself in the Big 12, ACC, or Big Ten

To state it simply without a ton of detail, Yes.

Ppl keep saying OU won’t match.
If you’re OU and you’re joining the SEC, why let your playoff HC walk without a fight?

I stated this a few days ago, OU believes their brand sells itself and they aren’t willing to overpay a HC because they never have. Problem with any type of salary match is the looming $76-$80 million buyout in the Big 12. This is a serious issue in the OU athletic department regardless of what any of their fans say. They are fronting that money to hopefully get that money back in the SEC but it won’t be immediate and the timing they get the money back depends on their immediate success in the SEC. So matching would mean essentially fronting $100 million or more just on a gamble that OU continues their dominance in the Big 12 in the SEC. The other side of that coin is Riley were to stay, this would create even more of a pressure cooker at OU. This is a topic of discussion in the OU AD.
