Oklahoma ranked 97th in the country in rushing the year Leach was at Oklahoma and ran the ball 296 times

His last year at Tech, he ran the ball 312 times

Fair enough, what about at Kentucky?

We ran it about 160 more times than his final year at Tech, but 111 of those were QB runs, which would be nearly eliminated with him as OC...

He's definitely a pass first guy; I'm not going to even try to argue against that. But I do think he could adapt.

ETA: Regardless, I don't see him coming here.

Mike Leach would be more balanced at LSU than he was at Texas Tech. No doubt about that.

Yes, we will throw more. And that is a good thing. Randle will be a superstar and we might finally use Shepard effectively. But Leach isn't dumb. He won't fail to use thoroughbreds like Ridley, Ford, Ware and Hilliard.

Miles has to know that the shelf life of Leach as OC is 1, maybe 2 years. Just enough time to win a championship with the stacked squad we have.

Not trying to toss gasoline on the campfire here, but I have to add this from Nov. 04 at LINK

Way down at the bottom of this article is the statement:

"While in the Los Angeles area, Leach also visited his friend, director Peter Berg, who was doing pre-production for the movie, “Battleship.” He’s visiting him again this week in Baton Rouge, La. for the filming of the movie."

Coincidence...? Yeah, sure.

Obudan, that is a real good point. Most OC's we could get would probably not run nearly as many Qb designed runs as we ran this year.

The creator of Friday Night Lights! Maybe we'll get some of their big time prospects too.

I don't understand why people think belowpar isn't legit. He's got Chicken's seal of approval. And...I didn't see this mentioned...after Bo Pelini left, he said that CLM was considering promoting from within and promoting two coaches at that loooooong before Malleveto was actually promoted (a fact which sealed the deal, IMO, as to the quality of belowpar's sources).

You'd get over it once the offense was unstoppable.

Someone said it on the previous page but I want to make sure everyone understands what I'm saying.

I have NO IDEA if Leach is interested or WOULD come to LSU. In fact I don't think they have even talked.

All I'm saying is Miles is going to find out if there is any interest and I fully believe that Leach would be his first choice if he could have him.

I don't personally agree with it or think he'd be a good fit. I'm just telling you he's #1 on Miles list IF a change is made.

I understood you the first time, but it's funny how you have to repeat yourself several times for some people to understand...

I'm glad to see you back.

Thanks for the info BelowPar, it's interesting to hear that Les is actually putting Leach that high. Leach is a great OC, but I just don't see how he'd fit in here. Are we really going to abandon the run?

Will be an interesting offseason for sure.

Oh and BelowPar, I figured you may know the answer to this. What is Crowton's contract situation? I know he was given a 3 year contract and a raise last year to about $469,000, but there is debate as to when he got the 3 year extension. For some reason, I thought it was through next year since I recall someone last year (maybe you) that the ~$1 Million buyout for Crowton was refused to be paid by LSU.

Thanks and hope all is well with you.

Belowpar...thanks for the info, let's see how it unfolds...I do believe it is a great re-entry spot for Leach, his image has been tarnished...he could re-establish himself at a great school and possibly win a MNC, this would up his value.....I could see it being a good thing for everyone involved....Keep us posted as you get info, always enlightening...

I don't know if it would work or not or that he would even come to LSU

BUT

It would be an excellent way for him to get back on a big stage and become a hot name again

So if Miles is thinking about inquiring about Leach, does this put to rest the rumors of him retiring, leaving for another school? Certainly he wouldn't be overly concerned with the future at LSU if he was leaving....

Belowpar, why didn't crouton leave prior to 2010 as you indicated?
