Just kind of funny to me how "something out of Les' control" always seems to be a recurring theme in his info.
Technically speaking, not being able to find a suitable replacement is directly within Les's control, since he is the CEO of this organization.
If he put out feelers last year, held conversations, and felt Crowton and the continuity he offered was the better option, then that was definitely under his control.
Same can be said with the Co-DCs.

And that's true, but my point is it sounds like an excuse. "There just wasn't any better fit out there" is an excuse and a bad one at that.

So BelowPar chooses to remain anonymous and I have to just take his words as the truth at the time? Do you understand how retarded that sounds?
I don't have a problem with BelowPar as a person, but I think it's funny that if anyone else who may have sources has a different version of how things play out, they are automatically wrong and we cannot question Belowpar or his intentions at all.
Talk about a bunch of lemmings.

.The 10 million dollar question is will his offense work in the SEC w/the superfast defenses we typically have..
Guys,
The ready, fire, aim, mentality this board sometimes displays is hilarious. Just because TT threw up STUPID offensive performance numbers against BIG 12 defenses doesn't necessarily mean it's going to happen here, especially given LSU's current QB stable of JJ, JL, and Frosh. BB.
I'm not really sure how many know the story behind CUM's 1st season in the SEC. While at Utah CUM's offenses were some of the most productive in the nation. They were also somewhat successful against the Non-Qualifying schools Fla. played early in his 1st year. However, his offense struggled against Tenn. and Alabama, and was totally dominated and beat down by the LSU "D" under Pilini. That forced him to pull Mullen and the Offensive Position coaches together before sunrise the next morning for an emergency all day strategy session to completely redesign his offense, adding some sort of power running game. Tebow was added in 2006, further implementation of ball control and a power rushing game. There's an interview he gave on this floating somewhere on YouTube. In it he admits he had no idea how important the power running game was to control the pace of the game while neutralizing the speed upper tier SEC defenses possessed. Everyone makes fun of Les' attempts in 2009 & 2010 to instill a ball control offense. He knew if you are unable to maintain some sort of power running game, the defense is going to get gassed and gashed (See LSU 2009 and 2010) with an offense that gives up too many 3 and outs.
Maybe Leach can modify his offensive style to that more conducive to possess at least some sort of power running game, who knows. But if you think LSU is going to be successful slinging it 40 or 50 times a game in some sort of "system type" offense similar to the Oregon's, Nevada's, or Hawaii's of the world, you may want to reconsider. Just look at what Petrino has done at ARKY. His 2010 offense is much more power run oriented than ANYTHING he ran while at Louisville, even with a gunslinger and strong armed QB in Mallett.
I'm not saying he will fail as LSU's OC, I'm just suggesting everyone look at what the more successful offensive philosophies have been built around, and the core of virtually all of them is a power running game. Just food for thought.

Not necessarily and I don't think you have enough information to say that it is in this case. To claim otherwise is just being disingenuous.
Les had an OC on staff whose offense was already installed with two QBs with time in that system. If the right guy wasn't available or willing to come on board at that time, are you suggesting he should have "settled" for what was available to appease you and the like with this fanbase?
That sounds like an awfully shitty gameplan. The number of factors that play into these staffing decisions makes it more than plausible that retaining Gary Crowton was the best decision, in MILES'S eyes, at this point one year ago.
That isn't an excuse, it is how the business works....whether you like it, agree with it, or hate it.

I agree it is reasonable to have happen once, but it's now happened multiple times and in both cases where plenty of time and guys were available to bring on board that would've done better.
I am not going to trust Les' judgment when instead of hiring a capable QB coach at least this offseason, he hired Ensminger who hasn't coached Quarterbacks since 2002.

That fact that Les is considering Leach makes me like him even more. I guess we just need to know if Leach is interested. I will fix that tomorrow. I think he is very interested. Only one way to find out, ask him.

I don't know what you're referring to but I know someone that actually was a TA for a class he took and he had nothing but good things to say. Said he was really sharp and did well in class.

we need to find someone who has the arkansas/denver bronco of old type offense. GREAT zone run schemes make average RBs look really good and opens up the passing. This would be a more pro style offense.

^^^^^this!!
I would love to see a smash mouth line of scrimmage dominating offense!!!

Your post wreaks of jealousy.
I haven't heard anyone dismiss others with "sources". It really seems like you are building a strawman to make a point because for some reason you don't like BelowPar getting attention.

BTW, how is tuberviles defense doing at texas tech? being he is so defensive minded and has the recruiting bed of texas??
I think the whole big 12, sec, offense, defense is a little blown out of proportion

Wow, you really are dumb, or you're being deliberately obtuse.
Belowpar has an extremely solid reputation and has been fricking money for four years. No other poster on this board has his reputation for being *right*. You don't have to 'take his words', you merely need to look at his body of work compared to others with so-called 'sources...and take into account that Chicken knows who he is and vouches for him. To ignore his history and bonafides is to act, quite frankly, retarded.

Mafia: he was rolling his eyes because you were quoted in this very thread:
And belowpar never said that, or anything else that would cover Les' arse. Just stated facts. It's quotes like that that push good sources away.
And the hypocritical part from you:
quote:
So he says the only thing that would cover Miles' arse in the Crowton fiasco? Really? Kind of funny how belowpar's updates always painted a defense for Miles. "Miles was willing to get rid of Crowton, but the AD and TAF said they won't let him because they won't pay the buyout." How freaking convenient

Again, I am not against BelowPar and appreciate his insights, but to act like he doesn't have an agenda when he comes on here is hilarious
