re: What's most likely about Miles and Michigan?

Miles and/or his agents lie about "A" so he can get a longer contract.

I don't think Miles turns down UM if offered. This would be his last chance and an opportunity to turn his alma mater around.
Unless he absolutely goes off the rails, Miles has the LSU job locked up. He has kids in HS in Baton Rouge and like you said, it's a mess in Ann Arbor. The pressure would be insane. They chewed up and spat out RichRod and would do the same to Miles unless he's competitive immediately.
In short, no way he takes the job. He might be quirky but he's not a retard.

Would you really consider going to another school when the job you have throws $5 million dollars at you every year and your team isn't even on the radar in the CFB Playoff Rankings? And you'll keep getting that salary for years to come? Gimme a break - Miles will never leave.

I think the $4-5 million dollar argument is more water under the bridge for Les at this point in his career than one may expect. I believe that is pretty much would he could seek in any deal at any major school these days. If any school is going to make an offer to take a coach equal or greater to Miles away from any major school, they would have to bring the cash. The going rates have changed.
And I'm sure that any deal that was made would been for a minimum of 4-5 years anyway so "time" in that sense I don't believe is as much of a factor either.
I think for Miles, his decision lies within other factors.

Always thought miles would go when Michigan went all in for him. Like someone said, too many cooks in that kitchen for that to happen though.
Agree that the money and contract complaints from lsu fans are madness. Aren't sumlin and hoke in the same neighborhood?

quote:Meh. RR wasn't a UM guy. He was a splash hire that failed. I still think he's a very good coach though.

Hoke was their attempt at a UM hire to avoid hiring Les. Yes, politics. Another failure.
If the shite at UM was fixed, I think they offer Miles hands down. I also think he'd have a hard time not accepting. He's tied to LSU for sure, but his heart is UM. At 61, money not an issue, nothing to prove except try to help your alma mater?!? I think that's a yes.

And Alleva will be dumb enough to fall for it and will cave, just like he did two years ago when Arkansas came callin'. Michigan doesn't really want him, and neither does anyone else. We're stuck with Miles until he's tired of coaching.

Michigan is very afraid that in the end Miles stays. They can't afford that embarrassment. They will not risk it.
