Rocket, I command you to get Saban's back on this. What has happened to you?
I'd prefer Del Rio or Spurrier

I understand where you are coming from in your thought process

Excuse my ignorance, but I tried a search but could not find: who is this Lombardi dude? I know he's part of the hiarchy, but what title?...thanks.

Right now, it's basically a tug-of-war between the Friends of Saban and the Friends of Bertman.
That should be a good two-on-two matchup.

Lombardi is LSU's new System President. He hired Spurrier at Florida.
John Lombardi - LSU System President:
<<<Lombardi left a lasting impact on the Gators athletic program, widely regarded as one of the worst in the Southeastern Conference prior to his arrival. Among those hired during Lombardi's tenure included:
Jeremy Foley (athletic director)
Steve Spurrier (football)--The former Gator quarterback, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1966, led Florida to the 1996 national championship and six SEC titles in 13 seasons from 1991-2002.
Billy Donovan (men's basketball)--Led Florida to back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007, and a national runner-up finish in 2000.
Andy Lopez (baseball)--Led Gators to College World Series appearances in 1996 and 1998.
At the University of Florida, Dr. Lombardi was often known to drive to work in an old red pickup truck.>>>

Bertman and Larry David

Saban and who?

Del Rio would be my choice...which pretty much guarantees he won't get it!

Gotcha.
Still, he must do very selective trolling. Or he has multiple ID's he's saved up for a loooong time.

Right now, "friends of Saban" and "friends of Bertman" are sitting around with their laptops looking at Tigerdroppings and the Michigan and Bama boards and laughing their asses off.
And filing bogus flight plans.
And calling realty offices and saying that they represent Saban, Spurrier, Del Rio, Tubberville, etc. and want more info on a house for sale on Highland Road.

we would be idiots to even look his way and he would be an even bigger idiot if he listened.
there is no way we try to get him or that he would take the job. lets see what the hat does
then look at realistic candidates. should not have to take our 3rd or 4th choice this time around and yes i think miles has done a great job
but if he'd rather be at michigan go now. lets dont hear about it every year like with saban and
the pros. usually just read and dont respond but this is too crazy.

Also, as far as my prediction of what will happen ... I think the Friends of Bertman will ultimately win this battle and both sides will be forced to compromise on another candidate.
It's an unfortunate situation. Skip Bertman has done great things for LSU. He is a pretty good guy for the most part; however, when it comes to Saban, the two egos are like banging bricks against one another. It's just a terribly strained relationship.
The ultimate loser in this whole situation is Saban ... he really wants to be back at LSU and has since the day after he left LSU. Although LSU and Saban would likely be a perfect match as far as success on the field goes the next few years, LSU will likely have success with whomever gets the job here.

frick Nick. He had every opportunity to stay here. I don't hate the guy, but that's on him.
Saban is not what we need now, in my opinion.

Rocket, I usually agree with you but you've lost your mind if you want Spurrier.
--He's lazy and doesn't recruit
--He lost to Vandy
--He hasn't improved SC much if at all from when he got there
-- he'd waste the RB talent
--he hasn't won ANYTHING in 6 or 7 years
this isn't the best but it raises some good points
LINK
Please, explain to me why you bellieve he'd be such a good hire
