What will hiring a new DC right now do

besides distract the STUDENT athletes during finals?
They can't do anything this week anyway...dead week. I would rather Miles take his time and make the right hire...I mean really whats the rush? If someone really wants this job they won't hop onto another one that fast without waiting on us.

The three week of bowl prep is basically like another Spring Practice. So, instead of having quality defensive coaching, we are wasting our time with the same clowns that brought you this season's D. If we make a huge hire after the bowl, then so be it, but we are losing some quality development time in the process.

Breakdown film of Ga Tech and watch our game film to get to know his personel.

It could help to lock in any prime defensive recruits who may be uneasy with the current situation.
A new DC hired right now would not, in my opinion, lead to worse results on final exams. I am willing to bet that if they were able to deal with the distraction of a football season, they can deal with something like this as well.
It will give the younger defensive players a pre-spring spring-practice, with a much more helpful spring game.
Getting a new DC in now, getting him acclimated to the team, and the team acclimated to his system, would help speed things up during the real spring practice, making it more productive, and thus helping to lead to complete and utter domination next season.
Just because it didn't work for Auburn and Franklin, doesn't mean it won't work for us. Besides, how do we know Auburn wouldn't have sucked even worse had Franklin not arrived before their bowl game last year.

I just don't think it's realistic to rush a new guy in for the bowl game which is 3 weeks away.
I mean, how often do you see this kinda thing happen in the first place?

But, I don't think any of that supports your opinion that it would actually turn out to be a bad idea. Just because it doesn't happen often doesn't mean it won't work in this particular situation. I'm not disagreeing just to disagree -- I was just hoping you'd give me better reasoning so I could understand your opposition to making a quick hire. I do agree that the idea initially seems a little weird, but once you analyze it, the pros v. cons conclusion doesn't seem to bring any cause for concern. Unless of course they rush the hire. I think maybe that's what you fear rather than a quick hire in and of itself. But quick hire does not necessarily = rushing it and making a mistake.

It happens all the time Auburn last year. not to mention we will lose prime canidates like VK.

we lost VK because Les waited too long? VK was like " let me in there now, Les, or i'm moving on to KSU?
As for the idea that it's some sort of failure to not hire someone right now, I think that is simply silly. If we hired someone right now he better have a good idea of who and what he's working with to put something together to stop PJ's option. Not a week or two to get acclimated to BR, LSU, or his players... straight to GT prep.

Send a message to recruits that lousy defensive coaching will not be a problem at LSU next yr. Let the new guy come in and recruit; why let lame ducks recruit? Let the new guy start implementing his defensive scheme. (replacing whatever scheme or lack thereof Malleveto ran.)

Exactly. This worries me.

who says they are lame ducks? They may still be on staff.

That was the exception. It really doesn't happen that often.

Having the new guy around so quickly means that we mean business and are not satisfied with what happened this year. This one game could really end our year on a high note for players, recruits, fans, etc., and get us off on the right foot going into next year. Could our D be worse with a new guy. Like I've said before, a new DC may not be ably to change a system in this time, but he can change attitudes and confidence levels. I think it's worth the risk to bring in someone in now.
If Miles is waiting because he truly doesn't know who he is going to hire, then that is a valid excuse for not having someone in place, but I don't think that is the case.

I'd like to get a good one before someone else does.

It would actually hurt.
The last thing that LSU needs is a "lame" duck for DCs...or is that 2 lame ducks for DCs...
if you think the players do not listen now.....
