USF has to be number 1. Strong should kill it over there.

FAU/Purdue toss-up for second strongest hire.

Then the rest

LSU did quite well

Based off what possible rationale?

We piss and moan about the offense non-stop and that includes Alleva. So, we hire a defense line coach who was out of work two years ago and who was a miserable failure in his only HC job? A DL guy who couldn't land a DC job in a decade. Holy shite, how fricked up are we in the LSU administration?

Look, we all hope O does great here, but there is nothing which shows LSU to have done quite well in this hire.

The best off resumes was Texas. The worse was LSU.

The rationale that no one is winning the West until Nick retires anyway so why not save some money?

The genius move was overpaying Aranda so he is pro-LSU going forward. The timing of him wanting to move to a Power 5 head coaching job and Nick leaving Bama might line up perfectly.

Admittedly a bit biased but I think USF made the best hire. The program is in good shape coming off an 11 win season. Strong has ties to the area so it's a great fit.

Kiffin at FAU is inheriting a dumpster fire. I think his success there will be entirely predicated on his ability to recruit. If he can lure some top flight local talent away from Miami/UF/FSU he has a chance.

Oregon made probably the "best" hire considering Taggart's ability to rebuild programs.

Strong at USF was probably the best fit.

Purdue and FAU definitely punched above their respective weights by hiring Brohm and Kiffin.

I like Tom Herman, but I'm not pencilling him in as the next Urban Meyer until he has a few more skins on the wall.

Taggart can rebuild but was cheap enough to give us a great assistants. If you told me Taggart came with Leavitt, I would've jumped on it.

So you're ok with not even trying?

Dooley truly seemed like a decent hire at the time

I believe Texas in both football and basketball. I think both Herman and Smart will have bright futures in Austin.
