As someone who doesn't know much about Tennessee, what makes the job so unattractive?

-Poor administration and fan support?
-Revolving doors of Athletic Directors?
-No money?
-Poor recruiting grounds?
-Constant instability?
-Is Knoxville a terrible place to relocate or raise a family?

On the surface, everything looks great. Tennessee appears to be a vertical move to most of the coaches they have been targeting (Gundy - Oklahoma State, Brohm - Purdue, Cutcliff - Duke).

It wasn't that far removed that they were beating a strong Michigan team in 2002 and winning the SEC East in 2007. What's going on here? How did they get to this point?

Did you see what those water heads did Sunday?

They essentially placed their own program on probation

An incompetent AD that can be influenced by a Twitter mob. And that's just for starters.

How can you trust a guy like that to ever have your back when the going gets tough?

Poor administration

This right here. Our AD is a puppet for the Haslam family, who try to run everything. I mean, we tried to hire Schiano before even contacting Gundy, or any other good coach.

Stability has obviously not been great lately, but I disagree with everything else on your list.

Fan support

Our fans are so passionate that we ran a coach out of town before the ink was dry.

The AD tried to hire a coach, the fan base found out it wasn't Jon Gruden so they took to twitter and accused a man of covering up child rape, even though a year long investigation by the FBI didn't find evidence of such. Not to mention retarded politicians from the state got involved in dragging the aforementioned coach's name into the mud.

You think any coach wants to get involved in that circus?

Your avatar is driving me nuts. Is that a LSU intrasquad in front of a packed house? Because that's Wayne Sims, Geert Hammick, and Dennis Tracey guarding Chris Jackson in opposite colored uniforms.

I have been there several times. It has a lot going for it. Beautiful area, nice people, top notch facilities. The main thing it has going against it is on your list - poor recruiting grounds. They have to go a long way from home to find recruits.

Where UT is today

Btw- anyone saying UT has issues recruiting cause the state historically has low talent has no clue what they are talking. UT markets itself, and has top talent beds within 3-4 hrs from campus. UT perfected national recruiting decades ago.

Instability only came from what kiffin did. Thats the problem. They had 2 coaches for 20-25 yrs. UT hasnt figured out how to handle the current coaching landscape.

Knoxville is a nice small city with river/lakes/mountains near by. Humidity can suck.

Facilities are top notch, and hard to beat. Unless you compare it to stupid things that schools like utx do that are just over doing it.

Btw - in case you didnt know it UT and mich are OGs of the arms race in cfb. Going back and forth in the stadium renovations back in the 90s.

UT just needs to find that one coach that can take the tools we have to build the machine. Ie UT needs to find it's meyer, saban, and what mich is hoping is harbaugh.

Their recruiting is terrible. UT has never been popular in the western half of the state. They don’t recruit Atlanta well anymore. They are in a spot.

Much like Nebraska, they are utterly dependent on out of state recruiting and therefore they probably have the lowest floor of any of the traditional SEC powers in today's game.

Their fanbase is several orders of magnitude crazier than Nebraska's though, and the Haslam/booster situation has made the job toxic in coaching circles I guess.

LSU fan granted but I have never for even a second understood the UT/Memphis dynamic as far as recruiting goes
