What is the "Saban Effect" on other schools and coach salaries?

A lot of big time college coaches have that "Championship Clause" in their contract that stipulates if they win it all they become top paid coach in the country.
Regardless if Saban takes 7 Million or 10 Million, that would leave other schools with these contracts on the hook for a lot of money if they win it all.
Do Jimbo or Gus have this clause? I wonder if those schools are freaking out about this.

why is this the Saban effect. texas is the one throwing ridiculous amounts of money around.

Well, Bama was the first to up the ante when they originally hired Saban. After that, a lot of coaches salaries went up.
At some point the bubble is going to burst, just like the real estate market.

yeah, I agree
Some school is going to really overpay a guy that fails miserably and go into serious debt.

I was thinking about this yesterday, and I'm pretty sure the clause would be worded in a way that would specify that coach becoming the highest paid compared to the salaries at the time the contract was signed. So, if Miles signed a new deal last year and won the NC next year, he'd be paid higher than the highest coach (Saban?) was paid last year (~5.5 million).

To keep an outlier like this from spiking the budget too badly, they typically word it as a guarantee of being paid more than an average of the Top 3 or Top 5. Maybe I'm wrong, but I've seen this kind of language more and more.

This is what I was going to mention. It's usually not the highest salary, but often must be something like $1,000 more than the average of the top 3 salaries or something like top 3 salaries in the conference.

The "Saban Effect:"
1. The Big 12 is instantly more legitimate.
2. The RRR is a much more nationally relevant game and it will boost OU recruiting.
3. SEC prestige takes a hit, which might slow down SEC recruiting in Texas.
4. It increase coaching salaries and therefore costs for the average fan.
5. I will want to eat a bullet.
