recruiting. Fact! I was being heavily recruited to go to Curtis (for basketball). They literally came to my house and met with my parents and I. I did play on their AAU team one summer and it was all kids that were being recruited to go to Curtis. I have no idea how they've gotten away with this all these years.

I'd say that Curtis' success is, in order, due to the following;

1) Recruiting the best kids, especially from the East Bank of Jefferson Parish. (Have any of the public or even private school football teams from that area ever flourished?) and then from further afield - river parishes, maybe bayou parishes.

2) Instituting the football program from elementary and middle school and practicing the same scheme over and over all those years.

3) Holding kids back when they are younger so they are older.

4) Pretty much having your family own the school.

5) Good coaching and discipline.

bonnabel.. state runner up in 77..

but martin and jesuit got lots of metry kids too...

and a lot of westbankers head to curtis too..
