1) if he does an excellent job at DC everyone will be pleased and LSU will be back in title contention

2) if he is absolutely terrible like Pelini, O will be gone and no more binder

I hope the DC hire crushes it and we get back to winning football

Or if 1) happens he'll move on like Brady did and we'll be right back in this situation next year.

It's too soon for this take, isn't it?

Another positive:
3) Coming from the Viking he's accustomed to wearing purple and gold.

I bet that was a big factor in O's choice.

OK- I'm shutting it down- it' much too early in this guy's tenure to be this negative. I sincerely apologize for my posts- just underwhelmed.

If LSU wins a NC every other year and has to deal with constant coordinator carousels....I’m fine with that.

It’s ok to be underwhelmed, really it validates how much damaged goods O has become.

That said, it’s time to support the hires as O has to bat 2/2 with these coordinators and show significant progress in 2021 with 20 starters returning if he wants to return in 2022.

Perfectly fine if he moves on like Brady. It means he did his job and excelled at it.

He cannot be worse than pelini. Pelini was the worst hire of my 49 years. Made me wish for malleveto and wonder if tepper would come back.

Even if Jones proves to be a grand slam, that really only applies to offensive coaches today. Defensive coaches don’t get moved up the ranks that fast. If he proves successful, we should have him for a at least 2-3 seasons.

I think we see significant improvement from last year's defense because the coaching was soooooooo bad. This is a young guy with some energy and will inspire the younger players. I'm cautiously optimistic, but this was no where near a homerun hire/big name/best coordinator out there.

Nothing has triggered this site more than “the binder”. But glad to know you want O to fail.

One positive: Sean Payton respects the hell out of Zimmer (as they worked together under Parcells) and whenever having to face one of Zimmer’s teams.

Point is, I consider hiring a Zimmer mentored-coach equally to hiring a coach from off the Saints/Sean Payton team.

Would you go as far as saying a defensive coach from zimmer is the same as an offensive one from Payton?

I'd have to say not quite but definitely above average defensive pedigree.
