We are about to see how serious LSU is about a new coach

If they get into a bidding war with Texas, they need to pony up and fight. You don't buyout Les at what you bought him out for to tuck your tail and not fight for Herman against Texas. Go balls to the fricking wall and get him.

Don't think money will be the deciding factor if UT and LSU are after him. Just got to hope he wants to play in a real conference instead of the joke Big 12. However I think it's about 90% Texas would get him over us if it came to that bc I think he would prefer to stay in Texas. Sucks but Lsu can't do anything about that. However we may wind up stealing Jimbo simply bc he wants to be in Louisiana and the SEC so we just have to wait and see.

Since they will not be retaining Strong after. a third year, and given how liberal Austin is. To avoid overtones, I think Strong finishes the year..

Can't win a bidding war against Texas. Also, most believe Herman would rather stay in state anyway. It's over if UT makes a move. Jimbo is our better option anyway.

I actually think Jimbo is the better option. However, the opportunity to have both as possibilities and being in the cat bird seat and deciding between two options is very intriguing.
And, where is it known BEYOND DOUBT that Herman wants to stay in Texas indefinitely and would jump at Texas job in a heartbeat. Don't see any definitive proof even though it does make sense on the surface. Perhaps more money from LSU and the prospect of playing in SEC will win him over. Like it was mentioned earlier, can LSU out bid on WILL POWER and is there a line where Texas just won't cross due to how they prioritize things in Austin.

Is Texas really this recruiting powerhouse they are made out to be? Why hasn't Strong been able to recruit well with them?
A week after the Les Miles firing, LSU still has a top 5 class and no decommits . . . that says something.

Yep and coaches and agents notice and treasure these things. And LSU's commitment to paying top dollar too. Those elements matter multiple times more than what hack like Brando has to say or what happened last November.

Call me crazy but it's hard to get excited about Jimbo. He got his arse handed to him by Herman last year. He got destroyed by Louisville (granted, they are very good) and he's now getting beat by 21 (last I checked) by fricking UNC.

Herman might be a hotter commodity, but Jimbo would probably bring more stability and longetivity to the program. I would be worried about Herman pulling a Kiffin and bolting to Texas or USC at first chance.

Texas could literally pay a coach $25 million without breaking a sweat. That university owns oil wells that probably make more than TAF and the Louisiana government combined. A bidding war would not favor LSU.

It not about who can pay the most and it never is or we would have a $10 million a year coach already.
It is about opportunity and you have to think Herman sees the Big 12 as a easier path the playoffs than going through Saban.
Start working on plan B and C.

Fair point, but maybe he's attracted to that challenge. The big 12 is an easier path, but success in the SEC trumps success in the big 12.. so we have that on our side.
