I don't know if you guys have seen this, just thought i would put this out there.

quote:

UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker spoke with New Mexico State for a second time this past weekend about the school's vacant head coaching position, according to sources. Walker has not had a face-to-face meeting about becoming coach of the Aggies, but remains interested in learning more about the position, sources added. Walker still has another year left on his contract at UCLA, but is interested in a head coaching position. ... Sources also said LSU representatives reached out to Walker about becoming the Tigers defensive coordinator, but no official contact with the school has taken place. -- LA Daily News

Why, Chavis has been the main name we have been hearing from the start. Don't know if he is gonna be the hire, but a majority of people believe its gonna be him.

p.s. i would like 30 lashes from your old lady also.

Posted last night by Vegas4LSU who claims to be a neighbor with one of the coaches at LSU

"Below par is usually right on with his predictions but I just talked with an LSU coach and although Chavis is in the final three he said he was pretty sure Walker would get the job.(Chavis is his choice FWIW) He also said Orgeron wants to be the coordinator but Miles is trying to convince him to be the DL coach and recruiting coordinator. Yes Lane is also gone!"

From Belowpar

Still no news on if an offer was made to Chavis. I think they talked numbers but Chavis is getting interest in several DC jobs so it is possible he could take one of the other ones, but he's definitely the top choice as of now. Also Coach O either gets done or he is using LSU to get a raise from the Saints. I'm about positive he doesn't go anywhere else, atleast as of now.

Vegas4LSU in another thread

I don't know where it came from but I can tell you it is RIGHT ON THE MONEY!! This was supposed to have been hush hush but since ESPN radio reported it I guess it leaked out. I can confirm Walker DC: Orgeron DL and recruiting coordinator: Willis LB's. Orgeron wanted to be DC but Miles wanted Walker so he talked Orgeron into being DL coach and gave him the title of recruiting coordinator. I don't claim to be below par but I am neighbors with an LSU coach

My money's on belowpar. No offense to Vegas, but I watched belowpar's posts during the Miles to Michigan thing last year, and he was money every single time.

In any event, we're going to find out who has the better sources I guess....

is he neighbors with a basketball coach, baseball coach? Track, soccer, swiming, volleyball. Hell he could be neighbors with a bowling team coach. If that is the case i wouldn't put too much stock into it.

All you can do is look at his track record which, although not perfect, is pretty good.

Your statement is useless unless you explain how you know this info.

He didn't elaborate, when we asked

Between Belowpar and Vegas4LSU

We know that Coach O is very much in the thick of things
Walker is it the final 3, with Chavis near the top if not the top, but Walker is very possible

The Willis thing is not being talked about much by either poster, but acknowledged it's possible

Interesting wording. Very "Deep Throat"-like in its caginess. Just what can he confirm about these things? That this is what Les wants? That this is what he has proposed to the 3 coaches? That they have all 3 unofficially accepted? Hard to tell.
