His DBs look to be playing VERY far off the WRs. the FSU clip, first pass play, the bottom DB was 12 yds off.

Just a thought, but that doesn't always means soft defense or coverage. In man or zone a CB can be taught to play off the line and still play aggressive football.

There were times when our CBs (mostly the ones not Hawkins, because for some reason he never really got to play on the line this year...) this year played at the line with WRs and still played with no aggression and didn't even touch the WRs.

Yeah but the 2nd pass play they're not too far off. Every DC has a package where his DB's are far off the ball. It's not a bad thing every once in a while. Just the two clowns we had did it every play.

I was loving all the different directions he sends the blitz with. Confused the shite out of the Qbs. This is is the aggressive bring the house kind of D we need. I respect Chavis and like his experience, but I'd rather not have another soft zone DC when someone like this is available.

no shite...in one of those clips he was showing blitz from three different angles.

I've got the Clemson V SC game on Tivo I'll go watch it and see what his D looked liked in that game.

But not aggressive enough for Dabo: "However, he Koenning) clashed with Swinney on defensive philosophy after Swinney replaced head coach Tommy Bowden in mid-October. Koenning favors a zone defense approach, while Swinney wanted the defense to be more aggressive and take more chances." (From article in Spartanburg newspaper)

Not sure how accurate that article is. Some say Koenning's defenses are aggressive.

well if Dabo hires John Chavis as is being rumored than his hate for soft zone will surely be tested

i dont know how many years those clemson highlights cover (i definitely saw matty ice in one) but there were more hard hits in the first 30 seconds of it than we've had in the past 5 years.

And the first FSU play, the film doesnt even start until the QB throws the ball so i dont know how anyone knows how far off the CB was 3 seconds earlier.

Obviously you have no proof of that. Up here in SC I'm hearing VK was TOO aggressive for Dabo.

exactly what I thought when I saw it, maybe this guy can help our Safety learn the technique of hitting and wrapping up simultaneously
