This isn’t Verge’s first rodeo.
This is Verge's first hire as AD. It will be his legacy.
If he screws it up, he's not qualified to stay on in the capacity of AD. The wrong hire can set LSU's football program back 10 years.

It’s the funniest damn thing to me when message board Joe always pop up somewhere and acts like they know what goes into being an AD at a billion dollar university program and suggesting to them how to do the job.
Apparently you aren't acquainted with the illustrious history of the LSU AD, incompetent since time immemorial. Then again, you did spend years defending Les Miles, you sycophantic dunce.

Aren’t verge and Saban very good friends? If so, I imagine he’s good friends with jimmy
He definitely goes back to that time.
I do not have a source, but I do know someone who went to LSU around the same time I did and worked in the Athletic Department after he graduated. He was there with Saban and working for Skip as the AD and he knows Verge very well. He told me last night that they still talk and text weekly and how happy he was for him.
This person I know feels very strongly that we are in good hands with Verge leading this search. I agreed and said I was very happy that Rousse promoted him rather than bring in his own guy.
He didn’t share any inside info with me, but did talk about his own opinions. He doesn’t personally like Kiffin but understood why the program is pursuing him. I mentioned a few other candidates and he likes Dillingham same as me. The one bit of info he did share just from what he knows about Verge (again, not inside info) is that he doesn’t believe Verge would ever consider Sumrall or Golesh. Too small time for him or the program.

Over the next eight days.
He needs to protect LSU by being ready to pivot rapidly to a different coach if Kiffin decides to stay in Oxford.
I think only a fool would repose complete trust in Kiffin at this point, or assume that Kiffin will accept the job.
Our AD needs to be strategic, so that we don't end up in the same situation as 2016.
Do y'all really think LSU hasn't been in communication with other candidates in case Lane falls through?
I see these same threads over and over as if people on a message board are smarter than our AD who has been a part of these types of searches dozens of times.
LSU has their hitlist and if Lane goes with OM or UF, they will pull the trigger on the other options. LSU will be announcing a HC before ESD.

There are rumors that he’s already interviewed a couple people.
And has salary and other demand parameters for said other potential coaching hires.

That's what they did with Drink and Kenny
