Oregon and Texas have DEEP pocket books. If either, or both, of those schools decided that they were getting Herman regardless of the cost then they beat out LSU. I am sure they have already gaged interest with Herman at X amount of money. If money will be the deciding factor for Herman and if Texas and Oregon want him at any cost, then LSU is in third place.

That's the difference between LSU and Alabama. They wanted the best coach in football, and went and got him. Think they gave a frick about anything, or anyone else? NO. That's why they win.
Eh, Bama wanted Rich Rod.

frick it I'll post what I've heard.
This morning I was told the Board of Supervisors was behind Orgeron but TAF and the boosters want Jimbo. Today's loss reminded everyone of Les. That was the worst thing O could have done. I think any chance he had is out of the window. Talks are still ongoing, don't believe anything about any announcement coming next weekend or Jimbo definetly staying at FSU. That's all bullshite.

I'm gonna let it play out before going full retard.
Not gonna bash anyone till it's over.
Just hoping for Fisher to pull the trigger.

All along I've felt Jimbo was a done deal and has been for a while.
But for some reason the last few days it's almost too quiet with LSU/Herman seemingly dead.... I think it may be Herman and the gentleman's agreement rumor way back might have some merit.
If this is correct, bugapaintrain is gonna be unbearable

Lulz. Alabama bombed that coaching search. Rich Rod turned them down. Mal got wind Saban wanted back in college, and made a run.

Jimbo demanding 7 mil is way too much

Pay him the 7. Who cares. We already were paying the highest salaries in college football as a whole. Pay this man and let's see where it takes us

Nailed it.
If LSU pirates Jimbo Fisher from FSU, for better or worse, they would have done what 'Bama did to the Miami Dolphins, IMO.
I prefer Chip Kelly to Tom Herman, and Herman to Fisher, but if LSU grabs him from FSU, we can't pretend like they didn't take what they wanted like a boss.

He still had to get a plane and tell his whole staff that he was going to Miami and not coming back until he had his guy, right? And, stayed there for a couple of days? Or was that story bullshite?
Either way, they still had to make a run at Saban and give him absolutely everything he wanted in terms of influence and control with all things football and they did.

or he recruits players that fit his system and will help them win regardless of stars. lsu currently has 4 losses with top 5 signing classes every year

I haven't heard numbers, but it's gonna take something along those lines. We were prepared to pay 6.75 last year.

Speaking of which ... please, LSU, do NOT hire Greg Schiano!

So, we want the best new coach, but shouldn't be expected to pay for it? And we should be Bama, and just go get the best coach, but not pay too much?

And, I would agree. I'm not saying who I would sell the farm for between Jimbo or Herman. What I am saying is, if you have identified your guy, you go and get him no matter the cost. That's what they did.
