What are the odds of us stealing Nix from Ole Miss? Is he a legitimate replacement or is this just smoke?

Nobody was happier when he left for Ole Miss than Steve Spurrier. SS tried to sell USM on Nix as a hire. Nix is benefiting from a lot of talent. He will fade.

Slim to none b/c I would hope that we don't want him. The reason he is in Oxford is b/c he really wasn't wanted in Columbia anymore.

Tell you what, would you rather a D/C from another conference that won with talent or one from the SEC that was mediocre with mediocre talent? More importantly, what were his takeaway numbers last few seasons?

I think that any coach that is aware of what schemes are required/ will work in SEC and is an in-your-face personality will succeed at LSU. That exp. combined with our talent will work out well. We don't need to shut teams out. Just win the TO battle EVERY GAME.

I think there is One cOach with alOt Of exp. frOm Our Own cOnference that wOuld wOrk Out wOnderfully.

Leave him alone. He is doing great at Ole Miss.

Didn't he have an awsome year for USCeast two years ago then sucked so bad they were going to run him out of town so he left for Ole Mrs? It will be interesting to see how he does next year.

He has done a great job of coaching the talent we have. As long as we can continue to have the players he will be great. His brother is also the running back coach at OLE MISS. Just don't see him going. If you look back at USM's defense in the 90's he was a big part of that. And the only reason USM wasn't interested in him is because Jeff Bower is a complete moron. He was content to go 6 and 6 and go to a crappy bowl game when he consistently had one of the best teams in Conference USA. My dad is USM alumni and I was raised watching them.

he had some pretty stout (read top10) defenses at USM before leaving for S.C. And that was with little-to-no ability to recruit to Hattiesburg.

But look at what he can do now: "Son, if you come play on my defense, I will make you the next Adalius Thomas."

Nix's defenses, both at S.C. and Ole Miss, have virtually shut down UF every time.

He is definitely at least worthy of consideration, though, I don't think he would want to be making another jump after just one year.

Miles really needs to be selling this position: "Look, we have tons of talent on that side of the ball already, come here, get us back where we were defensively, and ALL of the perceived credit goes to you. You will look like a defensive wizard and every school with an opening will be clamoring for you. Fast track to HC position you crave."
