Two very basic observations Re: Matt Campbell

Let’s leave out the X’s & O’s for a minute.,
First, this is the 30yr history of Iowa St. Marked are the winning seasons they’ve enjoyed.
That’s 5 winning seasons in 24 years pre Matt Campbell.
Campbell is on pace to have his 5th winning season in 6 years as coach.
Understand that Iowa St was one of the worst P5 jobs when he took over. Yes, it’s hard to recruit. Yes, they will never be able to attract kids to win a National title. But goddamn, the dude has completely turned it around, and sustained.
Secondly, Matt Campbell teams simply do not get blown out. Like, hardly ever. Twice in the last 5 years. His teams are in every single game. And it’s kind of amazing given their positioning amongst P5 schools
Let’s examine his losses
2017 (2nd year)
Iowa 41-44
Texas 7-17
WVU 16-20
Ok St 42-49
Kansas St 19-20
2018
Iowa 3-13
Oklahoma 27-37
TCU 14-17
Texas 10-24
Wash St 26-28
2019
Iowa 17-18
Baylor 21-23
Ok St 27-34
Okla 41-42
KSU 17-27
Notre Dame 9-33
2020
ULL 14-31
Ok St 21-24
Okla 21-27
2021
Iowa 17-27
Baylor 29-31
WVU 31-38
TTU 38-41

And he’s beaten just about every relevant B12 team except rival Iowa
Lincoln Riley 2x
Gary Patterson 3x
Matt Rhule 2x
Dave Aranda
Kliff Kingsbury 2x
Mike Gundy 2x
Dana Holgerson
Bill Synder
Tom Herman 2x
Mario Cristobal

He's done an awesome job of sustaining 5+ losses a year. Grats looks like he's headed in the right direction this season too

Looks like Napier blew him out in 2020.

It’s weird if Campbell were the hire a year or two, people would be creaming themselves
So did Campbell become a worse coach or has he just reached his ceiling where he’s at ?

What did Saban sustain at Michigan State? I’ll hang up and listen

I wouldn’t hate it. Give him an SEC-centric staff with top recruiters and he could cook.
I’d rather him over Tucker, Franklin , Stoops
Probably a toss up with Napier given his local success and coaching pedigree

Go look up Saban’s record at Michigan State
It wasn’t stellar

One of the teams that blew him out was a Sun Belt team coached by Napier. If we are that deep into the second tier, shouldn’t head to head matter….

This can’t be stressed enough.
The guy resurrected Toledo and has now built ISU into an annual bowl team.
I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t be extremely excited to see what he could do at an actual football school with the resources, facilities, and especially the recruiting ground in Baton Rouge.

I’ll take the guy that took the Sunbelt team on the road and destroyed ISU.

He lost to ULL, Say it aint true.

I like Napier too
What Campbell has done in the B12 is more impressive.
Yes, they sniped Iowa last year. Great win

You’re also a moron because you want to base a HC hire on the results of a single game

So I take it you’d prefer Senator Tuberville to Nick Saban if we could pick either?
