Tulane ran the spread last year.

Tulane did not run the spread last year. Haven't run one since Scelfo left in 2006.

Tulane is thin on the OL and at WR (will change with competent recruiting). Excellent RBs. Under-recruited at QB. WE can get spread talent; what we can't get is pro-style talent, which is the O we've run since 2007.

I don't mind a read option, that is primary rushing. Ga State and SHSU over-killed the run.

Tulane also apparently interviewed Brady Hoke.

Anyway...

Rumblings on other boards that the OC at Indiana may be getting the job today, Kevin Johns.

Would be an A+ hire.

I think we're going to get a B/B+ hire in Fritz. SHSU people are saying it's going to happen, and our successful baseball coach has enjoyed working with him before (so he has allies at Tulane).

I like it. He's improved every team he's ever coached.

I like the hire as well. I like the idea of a guy with HC experience over the hotshot young OC for the rebuild. In a few years we can hire a hotshot OC once the program is slightly more stable.
