One feature of the renegotiated contract is a greatly reduced buy out (say to 1.5 mil)
I doubt it goes from 6 million to 1.5 million.

Immediately after signing said regotiated contract with Auburn, Tubby turns around and signs with LSU. The Tigers use the Miles buy out to pay the Tubbs buyout.

I wouldn't be happy with Petrino to AU because I'm not all that impressed with him as a head coach.
He was successful at UL, but I don't think his style of headcoach would be successful in the SEC.

Would everyone be happy if:
Tubbs to LSU
Davis to Arkansas
Petrino to Auburn

I am sure Auburn is playing the game too...if they really want someone like Petrino, they might be trying to get an answer from him before they cut Tubby loose...
True but Arky wants an answer in 24 hours.

I will as soon as I can... I'm trying to work at the same time, dammit

It sure wouldn't be an upward or even lateral move, why would Tubby go downhill?

I wouldn't be mad if Tubs went to Arkansas. Everybody wants to try and go home at least once in their lives. I want him to stay, but if he goes, God bless him.
If Tubs goes to LSU, I will be mad. Cause he will probably win 4 MNC's before he retires...
Just please....please...please...no Petrino to Auburn.

One of the more believeable posts I've read today (from AL.com boards):
quote:
His contract was on his desk when he returned early this afternoon. If it's signed by Sunday, then we all know he stays. If not, Arkansas will officially ask to speak with him. They have already spoken to his agent, Jimmy Sexton, and have offered his client a job. Tuberville did talk with representatives of UA while "hunting".
He was also told earlier this week to take his pick of 4 offensive coordinators for next year.

Yeah. But I admitted it in the last paragraph of the post.
I'm not in trouble am I?
Dang. I should have used a smiley.

Sounded more reasonable then other posts on here.

Meyer is a bit different.
My understanding of Petrino at UL is that he recruited almost soley offensive players and then transitioned some of those recruits to defense. He played to win games 49-46, which in the Big East worked.
That won't work in the SEC. If you don't have the mindset to recruit good defensive players, I don't care how explosive the offense is, you don't win consistantly.
If Petrino were to go to AU and had a good DC (Muschamp for example) and allowed him to control defensive recruiting, it might work. But Petrino's defensive staff and style from what I have seen at the college and pro level leaves much to be desired.
