So I suppose he is not going to take the Arkansas/LSU/whatever job.

on radio this morning, tubs agent sexton said arky never formally called asking about tubs. they knew he was not going anywhere because of a clause in his contract. arky would have to pay over $6 mill to get him out of his auburn deal.

Yeah, the buyout, which he insisted on after Jetgate, is tough to get past. Just glad it's done so we can worry about recruiting and beating Clemson.

I don't know, would have to say Arkansas. Did Nutt turning them down so quickly surprise them? Hell, when I was there for the Auburn game the vast majority of Hog fans were drooling at the prospect of getting rid of him, did they think he wanted to stay?

sexton hates the clause because he can't shop or dangle tubs for every opening, but he can get an additional yar or two put on like this extension. it essentially gets tubs another mil or two when he gets canned.

Sexton is possibly one of slimiest guys around, I can't stand him.

i agree. i think sexton is scum. but you have to agree, he does his job and gets his clients what they want.

True. So if I read it right, by 2013, Saban and Tubby will collectively be making 7.8 million a year....I wonder what Sexton's cut is?

From what I've read (if it is true), CTT actually would get less in a buyout with the new extension.

The old contract had a $6MM buyout for 2007 and 2008, $5MM for 2009, $4MM for 2010 and $3MM for 2011. The extension now has $5MM for 2008 and then $4MM for each year thereafter.

In order to make "more" by being fired under the new extension means he would have to be fired in 2011 or thereafter.

He doesn't have to worry about making the car payment.

Reports don't mention assistants or anything. Honestly the reports I've seen don't actually say "signed" but that he has agreed to the new contract. Tuberville and Jacobs, maybe Gouge as well, are still in NYC. I think the actual "signing" will come back in Auburn later on.

No need to stress. Auburn had asked that he agree to the financial terms of the extension by Friday. He's done that.

I would think if there was any chance he wouldn't sign, he wouldn't agree to the terms.
