This is turning into a one-sided war from ESPN to Les Miles with ESPN trying to put the LSU Fanbase in the middle.

Les Miles called out ESPN - by name. ESPN of course didnt like this. Les Miles completely and absolutely rebuked Kirk Herbstreit. Kirk Herbstreit (a well respected college analyst beforehand no matter what people say), basically the face of college football on ESPN was smacked with a bunch of egg on his face. A lot of people may not realize just how much credibility ESPN has lost with all of this.

ESPN and of course the Detroit Free Press. All the ruckus today is coming from this Detroit Free Press report: LINK

Its conveniently the only place Ive been able to find that this stuff is coming from...notice how none of the other national sports sites will even touch this story.

The same Detroit Free Press that in conjunction with ESPN has been trying to manipulate this Michigan coaching search from the very beginning. The Same Detroit Free press from which Mitch Albom works for whom bashed Les Miles on ESPN's 'The Sports Reporters' on December 2nd for giving his press conference. The Same Detroit Free Press from which many people think was Kirk Herbstreit's 'inside source' for all the stuff he said. Can people not see how transparent a situation it is that Michigan's largest media outlet is the source of all this controversy?

And so because of that, it seems to me that ESPN is on a calculated 'war effort' against Les Miles, and is pitting the LSU fanbase in the middle. They want to turn the fanbase against Les Miles, so that if/when Les Miles leaves, ESPN can come out and say "See, WE TOLD YOU SO; YOU SHOULD NEVER DOUBT US, WE ARE YOUR CREDIBLE SOURCE FOR ALL THESE RUMORS (in order to save face). Its a sign of desperation on the part of ESPN, and in this instance has transformed them from journalists to gossip-mongers. That Mike and Mike in the morning was supposedly bashing miles for one published report that he may or may not have once again talked to Michigan (according to the DFP of course)? Its so transparent it isnt even funny anymore.

ESPN is trying to get another rise out of Miles. They want him to call another press conference so that he can rebuke these reports, so that they have another week of 'material' to bash him with.

I also see an ESPN/ABC vs. CBS angle to this. CBS college sports has really been cashing in on all this lately in being able to poing fingers at rival ESPN/ABC for the Kirk Herbstreit debacle.

The best thing Les can do at this point, is to just ignore it all, and when Michigan does hire a coach, and when LSU finishes playing their BCS game on Jan. 7th, whether or not LSU wins or loses--ESPN will be wrong again for all the media manipulation they will have been exposed for.

I mean, really, ESPN/DFP, which is it? Which side of the fence are you going to straddle? The one where you report that Les and Michigan 'never had contact', or the one where 'since we're panicking and cant find a coach at Ann Arbor we're going to find any which way possible to manipulate the situation to get Miles to indeed come here and tell the LSU fanbase 'We told you so'?

Either which way now, you're only setting youself up to be able to say 'We Were Right Either Way'....

Most intelligent people though can see right through it.
