2016 - 20

2015 - 8

2014 - 1

2013 - 2

2012 - 4

What is the problem with Helfrich? Not only are offenses he's had been creative and productive, but he is well known to be able to develop QBs. Am I missing something?

They also run a million plays per game. Yards per play is a better stat that "total offense" for a team like Oregon.

The only downside I see to Helfrich is that the style of offense he plays can be almost as bad for a defense as the offense we had last year. They can go 3 and out real quick

If the choice is Helfrich and Canada, I'm Helfrich all the way. I definitely prefer Helfric to Kiffin and maybe even to Sark. I would still be all in for Art Briles, but Helfrich, with no bloody shadow staff (possibly excepting Ensminger, if we have to go that way), might be my solid #2 choice right now.

Yards per play is a better stat. Doubtful he would run the same tempo here as Oregon. Probably run less plays per game here.

Yards per play rank

2016: 20
2015: 10
2014: 2
2013: 3
2012: 14

Still very good. Funny though, LSU was 12th in Yards per play this season, tops in the SEC, and 11th last season, right behind Oregon.

it's chip kelly's system and things are pretty easy when you have a once in a generation type talent at qb.

and you are incorrect about him being able to develop qb's. Besides Mariota, they really haven't developed anyone. Adams and Masoli transferred in. Darron Thomas was an athlete that couldn't throw. Lockie was recruited and was supposed to shine in the oregon system post mariota but didn't.

Then is it really the most telling stat?

You are missing the fact that he is Chip Kelly's fart that finally dissipated.

Bart Hendricks, Andrew Walter, Marcus Mariota (c'mon, the kid didn't do everything himself), and this year's Justin Herbert, a skinny Freshman nobody who threw for 2,000 yards at 64% completion and 19 TDs 4 INTs in 8 games.

Koetter called the plays at Arizona state and I would assume he did the same at Boise.

Helfrich developing a Boise qb doesn't mean much since every single qb they had for a 10+ year stretch thrived. Ryan dinwiddie, who followed Hendricks was probably their best qb.
