With the hire of Tolbert how good of a rectuiter is he? Will this help us secure davis?

I've only read that he's a very good recruiter. If true, that could only help us. I just googled him and found this Buffalo Bills message board where the posters believe he did a very good job with developing the receivers there. A couple of posters said that WR's were the least of their concerns with the Bills offense. Bodes well for us as both a recruiter and a coach! Welcome home Coach Tolbert! LINK

he could probably be a OC somewhere.

He was the recruiting coordinator at Florida under Zook when they had the #1 class.

Heard he was the primary recruiter of Chris Leak and Jarvis Moss.

He's been with the same team, in the NFL, for 5 yrs, so that's how long it's been since he's recruited anyone. Before his current 5 yrs stint, he has never stayed in one place longer than a yr.

Not true. He coached at UL-Monroe from 1995-1998, and for 3 seasons at UL-Lafayette before coaching at Fla. and going back to the NFL.

I don't suppose there is any chance that he will be promoted to OC after the bowl?
And thanks for the heads up on the Tolbert info.

Moss was the stud DE UF had on their NC team a couple years ago, left early I believe and was a 1st round pick. He was the one who blocked the FG to beat S Car.

Tyke has always been a position coach. WR/ Recruiting Coordinator/ Asst. Head Coach.
Remember Porter was the Asst. Head Coach.
Like I said, I've been on the bench during games while he was coaching in college. He has done some good things in the Pros and has been around some great coaches. This can only be a plus.

Therefore his recruiting prowess remains a mystery. All indications are that he will be good......awe, nevermind, Where is that Cool-Aid?

Let's be brutally honest here. He's a relatively young black guy with NFL coaching experience. He'll be able to walk into a home and tell a top WR recruit "Want to be like Boldin or Lee Evans? Work with me." On the surface, there's no reason he can't be as good as McCarthy was.

In recruiting, sometimes, it is about who you know. Some head coaches can make it easy and some can make it tough. I've seen it. Not all, just some. Tyke knows many. Remember when he played at LSU, some of those plays are now into coaching, Mike Callis, Robert Toomer, and a few more. One coach I know, knows most of them. Hes kept up with most of those LSU guys during that time.
I know of a few high school coaches that have coached in college. In Tx. they pay you Football head coach and AD. Those guys make good money.

I'm sold guys, he certainly has the credentials.
I hope there is at least one more change on the offensive side.
