Thinking out loud - Herman

Texas seemingly has quietly eliminated Herman from coaching candidacy over the last few days. What do you take from that?
To me, this could mean Herman has notified them of his intention to not be considered for the Texas job at this time.
With all the drama and dinero surrounding the Fisher deal, I don't have a lot of confidence Alleva will get unanimous support to get the deal done (evidenced by Miles staying last year) as long as Herman (a much more sensible option) is available.
So putting two and two together, sounds like Herman could be a real possibility.
I don't expect to see any insider leakage on this before schedule for the possibility of souring a hopeful and budding relationship between Herman and LSU administration.

I think that Texas floating this "he's a drunkard" stuff means (1) they are getting pressure to keep Strong, and/or (2) Herman is not interested.
It has to be one of the two.
I'd think that if Strong loses the next two or loses an ugly game at home to TCU, he is still very much on the hot seat. So, given that, Texas would not want to distance themselves from Herman unless they 100% believe Texas-Herman marriage not happening.
It is an interesting turn of events, either way.

You really think they would do that if he just withdrew his name from consideration? That's pretty crappy.

Either way you have to think if Herman sees this stuff he's going to be infuriated. He's talked about his dad's struggles with Alcohol, and seems very against it. Either way, I hope he ends up with us. He doesn't seem the type to be a raging alcoholic. Cares way too much for his team and family to put them through that or take away from them. Granted I don't know the guy personally, so anything is possible. Just my thoughts.

I hope your last part is correct
Herman has been my #1 just as Aranda was my #1 for D

Herman has been the best candidate this search all along, and is once in a generational, to sleep this hire in going for TAF buddies old LSU OC or River Parish Recruiting Giant/DL Guru, would be a mistake of huge proportions..
And that's even with the recognition of Jimbo as a Natty Title HC and yearly 10 win guy, and O as an solid winner at USC/LSU with elite DL coaching, recruiting, and motivating...
Herman is just that bright a star!

You realize we have begun to shy on Herman as well right? How does that fit in your theory?

Yes. It is Texas we are talking about. They are the epitome of hubris.

Don't know if true. But, have a guess why if so. Same ole La incompetency. TAF/BOS/TPTB cronyism, because Herman has yet to be a Tiger unlike the other two candidates that have the luxury of already having been..and having already networked into established friendships.
Living in La is to live in a vacuum(as said by a best friend's NYC native stepmom that his father brought back from her Saks 5th Dept head career in the 1980's)..
Live a lil..Dietzel, Arnsparger, Saban, Miles, all outside of the Bear disciple, Deep South, La/LSU ties footprint..Cholly Mac the only other to rank with the Yankees on LSU's best HCs list.

Because according to the insiders, LSU's administration is more worried about over paying for Jimbo or hiring good old cajun baw Ed O.
