They're celebrating in Morgantown - It's called schadenfreude

Morgantown, West Virginia is overflowing with schadenfreude as the Mountaineers watch Rodriguez' chickens come home to roost. The Rodriguez firing made the top of the front page of the Charleston newspaper in big bold capital letters. Here are a few of the readers' comments following the story:

Probably. RR's type of play and player with a few exceptions couldn't compete in the B10. They can in the Big East.

If Nick Saban had been born and raised in Baton Rouge and played football at LSU, and headed straight to Alabama instead of going to the pros first, can you imagine what the reaction in Baton Rouge would have been when he left LSU in 2004? That's essentially what Rodriguez did. What kind of celebrations do you think would have erupted in Baton Rouge if Saban would have been fired or suffer any other type of misfortune?
I still find it odd that a person would treat his alma mater and hometown the way Rodriguez did. After Hawaii went 0-12, June Jones walked away from the pros to resurrect his alma mater. Al Groh did the same thing when he walked away from the New York Jets to coach Virginia.
