I agree with you. Houston is a very attractive job with a lot of attractive pieces. I also agree with some of the other posters that say a defensive minded guy would be a good fit. You have a lot of talent on that defense, you need someone who knows how to utilize it. The guy I have in mind is John Fox once he is released from Carolina.

If I were Houston, I'd go after John Fox and try to get Rob Ryan as my defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips who is a good defensive coordinator but terrible head coach or Mike Singletary.
Ron Rivera is an interesting choice also. Always mentioned as a head coaching possibility, but always passed over.
What do you think about Jeff Fisher? How would the Houston fans accept the guy who was once their head coach before he left to go to Tenn?
I think the Vikings keep Frazier, but if they don't, what do you think about L. Frazier taking over that defense?
Nick Saban as a defensive guy? I don't think he goes anywhere for another two to three years, but they may make a run at him and just not give him personelle power.

quote:fox is the anti-miles. terrible record, but everyone still thinks hes brilliant despite the mounting evidence. the last 5 years, his win total has been 2(or 3), 8, 12, 7, 8. even that 12 win season- they didnt win a playoff game. just seems like we already a team hovering around .500
I'd go after John Fox
quote:both run a 3-4 D.
get Rob Ryan as my defensive coordinator, Wade Phillips

Mike Singletary.
quote:im ok with him. this town is so starved for a winner, i doubt anyone is still butt hurt over him leaving town and coaching a division rival
What do you think about Jeff Fisher?
quote:i dont know much amount about him. he runs the 4-3, which fits our personnel. hes thought of pretty highly in the coaching community- i think we could do alot worse
what do you think about L. Frazier taking over that defense

I'm pretty sure both can run a 4-3

He's had a few rough years the last few years with Carolina. Mostly due to having a really bad QB with Moore, Clausen and Dellhome (Not to mention Steve Smith is their only good WR and he's missed a bunch of games the last few years). He's a solid coach though. Runs the ball and plays good defense.
He'd put Houston (which is more talented than Carolina at this point) into the playoffs IMO. I don't know if he'd win you a super bowl though.

would be an ok hire. The main reason the Panthers have struggled is lack of talent.

agreed but I wouldn't say terrible. More like mediocre.

agreed.

I hope my team doesn't fire him.

name him HC. I think he is ready and has done a nice job in Minn.

Not only would the fans not like him but the locker room would never accept him. There is too much bad blood between the Texans and the Titans after all the dirty crap they have pulled.

Word is that Mangini may be gone. If so, I'd expect the coordinators to be gone also.

Well, they had Capers before Kubiak era, and the offense was pretty awful (aside from a couple decent years from Dom Davis.) They've really got to strike a balance this time.
Capers coached an expansion team. Does he really count ? I know he was there for a good 5 years (at least, don't know the exact number of years) But I mean that OLINE was downright awful. Maybe some of the worst offensive lines EVER. David Carr was a bust too.
Someone mentioned John Fox and man I think you hit the nail on the head.
