The DC and OC hires importance:

Are recruits waiting for these hires before they commit? Or was the HC hire enough to lure them in?
Also, some recruits may be waiting to see who the S & C hire is. This makes or breaks a team on the field. We didn't look too hot last few years.

I think that it’s a complicated answer because it depends on the recruits individually. But, I do think that a coach that is a consistent winner will have an easier time recruiting without having Coordinators and assistants set than someone with only a couple years of HC experience to his name. The “large vs small sample size” effect.

DC obviously more Important than OC
Walker is super pumped about Kelly

Unless we have another one of Tommy Moffitts kids coming in on this class, no one gives a shite about this in a meaningful way
Obviously It’s an important position, but that is not something that recruits are making their decision on

No matter who they hire the recruits and coaches have to build a relationship with each other they don’t know who coordinates at these schools like that. Also the coach has to figure out how this kids fits. Whichever players are committed are committed to LSU not the coordinator until they have a talk

Thanks for starting a good thread.
These hires mean a lot to this class in the short term. We went from trying to be in the top 3, to trying to get back in the top 10.
This is the best class from Louisiana, EVER. Wiggins, Matthews, Preston, Citizen and Law all need to stay home.
I'd like a DC and OC with some recruits in tow.

Interesting take and respect your opinion, but i think it's the opposite. The D stepped up last 4 games even with 2 All-American corners injured for most of the year and 4 DL missing. The talent is there!
Would think that the top shelf WRs want to see who the OC is and study their formations. There have been some talented WRs at nd, but also a lot of TE and run first to set up the run play calling tendencies.

It is a complicated question.
Although, I did notice that many recruits followed Riley to USC. Will BK have the same effect?
Which makes me think if we hired solid coordinators it could help.

Recruits should not base their decisions on Coordinators. They move often, if they are any good. Not saying it can't influence the decision to a small degree, but I don't think that should be the deciding factor.

Kelly is much more involved with thenoffense and can sell the scheme without an OC
Defensive recruits will want to know what their role will be.
Edit: or maybe Kelly is a defensive guy? I guess ive been wrong about that for a while.

Highly doubtful if Freeman gets the job. Downvote if you must, but Kelly doesn't come across as the type of coach players are willing to follow to the ends of the earth. Lincoln Riley does.

Also Notre Dame players/commits are probably there more for the school itself than any coach . Especially compared to other similar football programs.
