The same people who said "fire Les" because of his continual 3 loss seasons are really quick to forgive Coach O for a 10-25 record at Ole Miss which included a 3-21 record in the SEC (Vandy is Ole Miss' permanent opponent too).
The same people are saying "he learned from his mistakes and has learned under great coaches since then." The coaches he coached under after Ole Miss were Lane Kiffin, Steve Sarkisian, and Les Miles.

Les needed to go, but we need to make an outside hire. The questions about Coach O are not whether he can energize a team but whether he can run a program. There is a lot more to coaching and running a program than being a "rah rah" guy. I am a proud tiger fan and have cajun blood, but that does not blind me from wanting an outside hire. We need to do what is best for LSU.

Him learning from his mistakes had more to do with a 2nd chance of running a program (as interim at USC) and less about the coaches he worked for.

I also believe him seeing how poorly Les' choices impacted our team has helped him learn better ways to do things.

Fact is, any coach we hire is a gamble. But the point you are trying to make it not valid. The same people who wanted Miles fired can still believe that O has learned and improved as a head coach since Ole Miss (a decade ago I remind you)

What were the Patriots thinking when the hired Bill Belichick? He was terrible with Cleveland 5 years earlier.

Bet you USC and Seahawks are glad they didn't exclude Pete Carroll because he sucked at his first 2 HCjob

The Coach O Delusion and Hypocrisy

If coach O goes undefeated the rest of the way then he would prove that he's come very far from his Ole Miss days. It's unlikely to happen, but if he wins out you have no choice but to keep him. The all time great Les Miles would have lost 3 more games at least with the remaining schedule we have.
