Florida is a step below LSU. Anyone who thought a top tier candidate would choose UF over LSU is ignorant of the hierarchy of programs.

Florida and Nebraska are perfect examples of Blue Bloods that got comfortable and let the sport pass them by.
LSU with Lane may be building another college football dynasty. The man has shown an incredible drive to succeed, its hard to bet against a person like that.

UF just isn’t a serious program willing to put up what it takes to win a championship. Look at their coaching personnel decisions since meyer.

Florida was definitely a threat. Ex wife is an alum and her father played QB there. Florida is a highly regarded academic institution and they have money as well. I hope Kiffin ends up at LSU but until he signs in the dotted line we just won’t know.

This, 100%. This is why we as LSU fans should be proud. The money people really stepped up and found a way to get Kiffin, we lost out on Riley because the boosters were not convinced he could win in the SEC.
The fear was the irrevocable damage being done to the brand by BK. In their minds we couldn't afford to let him finish his contract. You made the wrong hire because of money, they determined to not let money be the deciding factor this time around.
