Thamel on ESPN
quote:.
Arizona State has finalized a deal to make Oregon offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham the school's next coach, sources told ESPN on Saturday.
Dillingham is on his way to Arizona to take the job and the hire will be announced on Monday, sources said.
Dillingham is a 2012 graduate of Arizona State and a native of Arizona. He's a former high school coach in the state and started his college career at Arizona State as an offensive assistant in 2014.
Dillingham, 32, will become the youngest coach in the Power Five

One of us! One of us!
Honestly tho this is a One of us hire that I can frick with. 32 years old. Not some dinosaur old frick retread.
Seems like a hard worker and has coached under some good albeit young coaches.
They can't hire a top 10 coach but why not take a chance? Low risk massive reward potential. Hope he does well. ASU always seems fun af when they are winning.

I like the hire as well.
Getting an up-and-coming Koetter from Boise and poaching Graham from Pitt were considered power moves, but didn't work.
Hiring well-known retreads like Erickson and Edwards were supposed to give them some clout, but didn't work.
I personally think ASU's potential as a sleeping giant is overrated, which is even more reason to give Dillingham a chance. Let a young alum give it his best shot to build and sustain success where it has historically been difficult.

He's got alot of work to do, but the bar will be low. I think the home will get people back behind the program. He's young. He'll do the work and not take shortcuts.

He’s more of a Norvell disciple.
