Texas A&M fans- what is your thoughts on Y’all’s TE coach Joe Jon Finley?

Apparently a mod on out paid website says he is about to be announced as our TE coach. What can y’all tell me about him?
EDIT: Ole Miss BTW

Probably not going to happen. He has some of the best TE talent to coach at A&M, so he'd be dumb to leave. Also, isn't that the same mod that assured everyone that you were getting Morris today?
We've been rumored to lose numerous coaches, and it hasn't happened yet

Nah, this guy was saying we lost him last night.... anyway, that’s what they are reporting. I’m just the messenger...

Trust me, it's already been brought up on TexAgs. I don't know what he will do, but he's a good coach. Also, we have a 5* that didn't play this year (injury), a 4* phenom fish TE, and signed yet another 4* TE today. We also run double TE sets a lot as part of Fisher's offense. If he wants to make a name for himself, he shouldn't leave

I do know that Lane Kiffin’s TE at FAU just won the John Mackey award, so I could see why it would be enticing to work in an offense that throws to the TE a lot . I don’t know if it is set in stone or not, I was just curious how he is as a recruiter/coach.

He’s good. We picked him up from Mizzou

Ok thanks for the input

He'd be our 3rd offensive coach with ties to Baylor if this is true. It's clear we are looking to go with a Baylor style offense and a 3-4 NFL style defense under Lane

He might be the guy that found Albert O, I can't remember. But yeah, he was highly thought of at Mizzou too.

Can I ask you why you feel so confident in saying that it’ll be an NFL 3-4 style defense? We have been looking at NFL coaches on defense but no one has been hired yet.

The two rumored frontrunners are MM and Golding. Both run a 3-4 pro style defense.

The John Mackey Award was proven to be completely worthless in 2018 when Jace Sternberger wasn't even a finalist, despite having better stats than the three finalists combined and being a 1st team all-american.

Apparently, this will be announced after the Texas ATM bowl game. Lane Kiffin putting together one helluva staff

If that moves Henson away from OL and over to TE so we can get a real OL coach, it will be addition by subtraction.

Albert O was there before Finley got there, but you are correct. He was highly regarded at Mizzou and we weren’t happy to lose him. I’d be surprised if he left A&M for a lateral move. I can’t remember what it was but he has some sort of connection. Family in the area or something

He's probably gone. Leaving A&M's group of TE's for Ole Miss is perplexing, but ...
