I will say the one thing I don't like is they will be moving to a 3-4. Next year will be a transitioning year for that defense.

Making a switch to the 3-4 doesn't change anything as they already need serious help on the d-line and secondary to begin with.

actually it does.
They now need a NT, DE, and possibly another DE (depending on what they do with Mario Williams), and a rush LB.
not to mention they already needed a FS. Before all they needed was two DT's, an OLB, and a FS.

Well they already needed a DT and DE before all this and now can get rid of some of the dead weight that wasn't working out while focusing on bringing players that fits this system. They also already have a player that can fill the rush LB role in Conner Barwin, who is brought in during passing situations and appears athletic enough to drop back in coverage.

Texans D was HORRIBLE this year. I don't see how anything could be a downgrade. They need to get some top notch talent whenever FA kicks off and use their top picks on defense... everywhere on defense!

I couldn't agree more.
All I'm saying is this D will take at least a season to be good while they get all the parts together.
