“It was the toughest decision I ever had to make in my life,” Orgeron told Hebert by phone. “This morning I thought I was going to LSU but after a personal meeting with Coach Lane Kiffin and his Father Monte Kiffin I decided that Tennessee would be the best fit for me"

Yeah, how dare those people try to put together the best coaching staff they possibly can.

$$$
Plain and simple. East Tennessee and Baton Rouge have nothing in common. You'd figure LA would be a better fit for him.

how does someone 20 years younger than you appeal to you on such a profound, personal level?

In the first thread that brought his name up, I said my heart says it would be good, but my head tells me different.
I am going to miss what he would have brought in enthusiasm to the sideline, but the same baggage that has followed him thus far and through this process is evident.
I really don't like the Sexton games and manipulation, and I lose respect for those that play it. I feel the same with Boras.
This move will play out like Saban's to Miami, IMO. His family won't be happy, and the DC title they probably dangled for the future will not come to fruition.
If this sounds like sour grapes, I am a little disappointed, but having him on staff was a risky move, especially at the salary figures that have been thrown around.

Meh, I think he's a good fit for Tennessee. Yeah I would have liked to have him, but I think we'll get somebody that will fit us and Chavis' system. The whole assistant making more than the DC would concern me. Either way best of luck to him at Tennessee.

I don't know who was playing who, but it's gotten a little weird.

600K would have been perfect.
Chavis was getting a raise anyway, no beef there and Coach O would have had more responsibilities.
Yes, 900K is a bit much and if O demanded that then let him go.
I think we could have closed him at 600K if we would have struck while the iron was hot and not given the Kiffens a last opportunity to get in his face again.

I think LSU should ban dealing with anyone associated with Sexton.

O, well! Kiffen is the worst hire in SEC this year. No ody on sports radio liked it, and no one thinks he will survive. We will see. I guess staying at home no as important to him as his buddies thought.
