His name is going to come up in discussions for at least a half a dozen schools over the next few weeks.

Forget about it. TCU has given him everything he's ever asked for from facilities to raises for his assistants. He makes damn near $4 million a year and is doing just fine in the new conference and a very young team.

He and Dick Bumpass are joined at the hip and LB Coach Randy Shannon is a great recruiter. They've got a good class coming in this year plus a couple 4* guys and a 5* that have transferred in and are eligible to play next year.

His wife is Fort Worth society. He just donated $100K towards the school's new Drug and Alcohol Awareness program.

His goal is to get to the National Championship while there are still members of the 1938 NCAA Champion team alive. There's still 5 of 'em left. Until they kick the bucket - leaving won't even be in the realm of possibilities.

All Gary Patterson speculation on this board should end in this thread.

I see you're from Texas, that makes me really value your opinion.

I like their chances better than aTm getting there in the SEC.

Even if I am - The point is that I know more about the TCU football program than you do.

I agree. Patterson is king at TCU, why would he leave for a conference as brutal as the SEC?

Hmmm, wonder why he did this?

Because he could... and he cares about TCU's reputation. I can understand why Arky would want a guy like that.

it will be very difficult... he's fourth in line for Texas talent (UT, A&M, OU), with everyone else having a hand in it (granted, that's better than arkansas).... And there aren't a lot of prospects in the immediate area outside of texas.

TCU has done a pretty good job of going into the southeast for recruiting... but they don't have the strong national name of a Stanford.

This is true. They aren't changing their recruiting strategy too much yet. Their staff is adept at finding the 3* guys and other "diamonds in the rough" and coaching them up. TCU guys are well regarded for their discipline at the next level. The more guys like Darryl Washington, Jeremy Kerley and Andy Dalton perform well - the better it be for TCU (none of those guys had offers from any big schools and were 3* recruits). Next year will be an excellent barometer of things to come with all the young talent getting reps right now.

I forgot about him. He should really help with our recruiting next year.

Agreed

It will be interesting to see how GMFPs recruiting will be at Arkansas. I can't wait

I don't think he'll leave TCU either. As stated above Bumpas and Patterson are very tight and Bumpas does have strong Arkansas ties.
