Tavaris Robinson to SCar as DC

All indications from AU writers seem to be that T Rob will take over for Muschamp.
He's our current DB coach that came along with Muschamp. Auburn Alum. Fantastic recruiter.
Currently has an offer from Maryland to follow Durkin and become DC. It's also speculated that Muschamp will offer him the DC position at USCe.
Edit: following Muschamp now. Offered raise and extension at Auburn and it is unclear whether he was offered the DC position at AU.

I really, really hope he's announced as our DC ASAP.

Really hope they waste no time making this decision/announcement.

Apparently Charles Kelly is also a viable option. Either way, win-win.

Eh. I don't know if he's ready to be a stand alone DC yet.
Really good DB coach and recruiter though, so who knows.

Apparently two of the best DC's (/defensive coaches) in college football believe he is.

I may have worded that wrong - I just think T-Rob would be better served to have his first DC job come under the watch of a defensive coach who could help him out when he's fricking up. Not Gus who probably doesn't pay much attention to the defensive side of the ball due to his involvement with your offense.

I think I read that if TRob is brought in they will look for a veteran position coach (that TRob approves of I'm sure) to provide a little bit of insight for his first gig. Not sure who would fit that bill though.

It's a fair point. I think we're keeping him to keep a similar scheme and to keep recruiting on that side of the ball going in the right direction

Unless he just loves Auburn, I don't get why he'd choose that option. Going with USCe or Maryland means not only learning under an experienced DC, but getting 2-3 years at a minimum.
Going with Auburn over those means jumping into a flaming bus already headed over the cliff at 80 mph. Gus is on the hot seat next year.

This is not meant as a flame, so go easy. TRob will have much more stability at SC or Maryland than he will at Auburn. First DC gig under an Offense minded coach coupled with 2 declining, subpar seasons is the recipe for moving again after a year. Expectations/pressure will lower at MD or SC.
Auburn fans and boosters are noticeably frustrated with Auburns defense. That same fan base will have little patience with first time DC TRob if Clemson rolls in to next season and wins by double digits.
It's tough to pick up your family and move every season. I don't see him staying.

Yea, wouldn't make sense to be a DC for a team whose offense scores quickly.

Yea but these days auburns offense doesnt really score often

Should have just said "gets off the field quickly"

It is time for him to leave the nest. He shouldn't need more supervision from Muschamp. He has worked under him for 5 years. He should be ready for the AU job now.
