Success as interim coach means little

I understand that if BeBe goes 8-0, it'd be hard to let him go, but since when does success as an interim coach mean anything? The most recent examples I can think of interim coaches "winning" the permanent job were at USC and W. Va, and those have not worked out. None of the top coaches in CFB right now started as interims. I hate to take shots at coach O, but like all other interim coaches, THERE IS A REASON NO OTHER TEAM IN THE NCAA HAS OFFERED HIM A HC JOB. It's that simple, no matter our win/loss the rest of the season, LSU has to do better

I'm not sure that's true. I think he thinks he deserves a top tier job because he's regarded as the best in the business on the recruiting trail and he's proven (in his mind) that he can win at USC. He's probably turned down a good number of opportunities.

I'm pretty sure he turned down Syracuse a year or 2 ago. But I don't think he is the answer at LSU

Good point, didn't think of Dabo. He's probably the best example O could point to.

I just don't believe for a second he turned down the Syracuse job.

Running the program over the course of a few years is a lot more difficult than stepping in and finishing the season. Plus there's zero pressure when you're interim. I would be wary of him because of his Ole Miss days.

I can only see him finishing 6-2 (7-2 with bowl) at best.

If Herman or Jimbo want in, you get them in.
