Time will tell but it looks like La Tech has picked up a good coach to replace Skip

I think people will look back in a few years and realize the Cumbie hire in Ruston was the steal of the coaching changes of 2021.
Go read the Red Raider board - they wanted him as HC. Have not heard a single negative about the young man.

I was coaching at Snyder HS (TX) when he was in junior high and I could tell he was going to a successful leader back then. (No I didn't coach him, I was the softball coach, but worked in the press box for all home high school & junior high games.)

Since my family committed to them, LSU and LA TECH are my favorite teams. Met Sonny, He's A GOOD GUY.

Maybe. But by the time people realize that, Sonny will be gone. I love Tech, but it’s not a destination gig, and they’ve got to keep hitting on these studs who last 2, 3, 4 years and be satisfied. That’s their model.

The man sure had Texas Tech fired up and the players genuinely seemed to want to send him off a winner. They curb stomped Mississippi State. Wow. Talk about a butt kicking.

I love Sonny! I know him and used to clinic with him when he was at Texas Tech with Kingsbury. Great guy, and a very good coach. I was hanging with him when he got the phone call to go to the hospital because his first child was about to be born. La Tech got a good one, I’ll be rooting for him & Tech to win big.
