Something to Keep in Mind

The whole facility/monetary landscape changed at LSU when Saban was hired. We finally committed monetarily to the program like we should have for years prior to that. He and Emmert were on the same page about this. In fact, Emmert left because of the lack of support the state of LA (trying not to get political here) showed on the academic side and the Flagship Agenda.
Anyways, my point is that a lot is made that Miles is a great recruiter and that is a major concern if he leaves. LSU has never really seen what another coach (besides Miles) could do with the major force LSU is now. We now have the facilities, exposure, & program that are on par with Florida, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, etc. There is a reason the national pundits call this a top 10 job. It's still the only state that is talent rich, with only one major university in it. I don't care who the coach is, the die-hard in state kids are still going to come now that the program is where it is.
So don't assume, oh Pelini, Patterson, Mullen or whomever can't recruit at LSU. There's no doubt Miles' is good at it, but the state of the program is in a whole different league.
I start to get excited about new blood in BR.

Agreed, but you'll have a difficult time convincing the old fans that we're not stuck in mediocrity
anymore and that this is an elite job.
They believe it's all one big damn dream we're living in, and we should be content to live with Miles' insanity because we're not going to attract any candidate worth three cents.

pretty shocked at the number of people who think it will be hard to replace what lord miles brings to the table.

That's a great point. I hear constant arguments on how we're going to slip back in to the Hallman era if Miles' leaves. People really need to understand that the program is now run correctly from a business perspective.

Why would they come if the coaching is suspect? Why choose LSU over Alabama, Texas, Florida?
If there is uncertainty in the coaching hire, should Miles leave, what will attract them? Boiled crawfish?

You can have the greatest facilities on the planet and all the money and titties that the NCAA allows, but if you don't have a good coach, you don't have much.

Once again. Different programs. How many times have you heard how crappy the facilities are in Miami? If you haven't, then you're not paying attention. They let the times get ahead of them and they haven't caught up. They are also in a state that has a ton of competition. Michigan. Very similar to Notre Dame in the fact that now everyone is on television. This does matter.

Once again, is Bob Toledo able to pay $500K for defensive coordinator and hire the likes of Bo Pelini and or John Chavis? It's really not that hard when you have money to play with. Miles figured that out with the the co-dc disaster.
