Love what Grimes has done, but Zach Wilson 2020 is as close to Burrow 19 that BYU is gonna get. Outside of that idk if we wanna hand over the keys to a guy who had one “great season” with a QB who might be a top 5 pick.

He is not my choice based on % RUN, but he has put up good numbers before, but great this year.

Also the saints do not run RPO. That was a Moorehead influence on Brady. Moorehead is being mentioned now.

You lost me here.

Let me help you out with this link that explains the Saints RPO’s.

Wtf is wrong with folks confusions about RPO’s? Impressive stat listing though.

I don't consider a pre snap to be a true rpo like we see mostly in college. It is a form of the rpo but it's not what I am talking about and I consider that to be more of a 1 man audible pre snap. Everyone in the nfl does this, it's simply a run play called with a single route, qb signals before hand most of the time it will be thrown after reading. LSU did not run much of the saints or really much of any nfl rpo system last year. LSU does not line up under center and to me that's simply a hot read, not a true rpo.

Nfl doesn't run the traditional rpo offense because the offensive lineman can only be 1 yard down field. If the pre snap read is an rpo than frick every qb rollout is an rpo

What I consider to be an rpo is the more traditional college version. It's a run play (usually an inside zone, but can be a stretch zone) out of the shotgun where the line blocks run(can go 3 yards, but its never called), all WR run routes with the inside slot guys usually running slants.

Qb reads the linebackers at the snap while performing the hand off, if linebacker comes up, the qb pulls it and throws to the slant.

Can also be run off the zone read where he reads LB to weak side DE and decides between the three options.

Urban also ran it with the TE split and running underneath for a should pass with the weakside running slant.

Early in the year we ran it alot out of trips, where was blocked and had a one man slant route on the weakside. We ran zone to the weak side and also a weakside counter and read the LB and the safety then hit the slant.

We also ran it with 2 wr(chase and jefferson) to one side, outside wr runs slant underneath and the slot runs either the Fitch or fade depending on the nickel on him. Joe has 3 on 2 and knows with the run action he is almost assured he would have a 1 on 1 for one of them, simple read of lbers and pulls the ball and hits the one the safety decided not to double.

Don't get me wrong, lots of pre snap stuff involved and plenty of pre snap change of plays(what you linked is still calling an rpo). I think Lombardi would be great at installing those concepts, or should I say keeping them, and would be great at teaching them to the new guys.

But Lombardi has never, atleast to my knowledge, ran a true post snap rpo game.

Here are some looks on alabmas rpo system

Urban Meyers breakdown on the Spread and RPO and the rb run/qb run/pass RPO.

Straight out if the horse’s mouth. Goto 4:30 mins in. He describes the triple read aspect of the RPO.

Qb option to hand it to running back, keep it or pass.

I will say with E, the passing game was very unorganized at times without brady for sure. If it wasnt, he would be considered not only a good OC, but a great OC.

SE was far from perfect as an OC; however, considering the attrition of the roster and breaking in a new QB followed by 2 true FR his performance was impressive.

He'll probably never get proper credit considering when he was sole OC in 2018 and 2020 LSU ranked near the bottom of CFB in returning production. Those figures reversed in 2019 and will again in 2021.

No shite, the saints don't run that at all. No nfl team runs that. That's the college version and what I consider a true rpo. Most places don't do the qb keeper off of it though.

Hey genius, next time preview your text before you post. Callaway was at Samford, not Sanford.

All of the numbers need context.

I appreciate you putting it together though

Thanks for posting those links. For some reason I thought that Moorehead ran a gap scheme RPO. I must have him mistaken for another coach.
