so here's the impasse. you believe that alleva hired orgeron even though better, established head coaches wanted the job.... i don't believe that.. if the hottest names (at the time) actually wanted the job you don't hire your interim

lane was not a candidate in 2016, he was still in the saban rehabilitation program at that point

I’m not making any claims. You said Ed was the only person who seriously wanted the job. I showed you 4 candidates that interviewed. You then decided those candidates weren’t really interested and weren’t good enough coaches. I don’t know how you can possibly know that coaches who interview for jobs aren’t serious, but you claim to know. You have a massive ego. You can’t admit you were wrong.

its not though..saying kiffin would've taken the job in 2016 is goofy.. of course he would have, he took the florida atlantic job... he wasn't a candidate for any p5 job at that point.

bottom line, you either believe that alleva had established, big time coaches wanting to take the head coaching job and he just decided to go with the dl coach or you believe that these people used lsu for leverage and never had any actual interest in the job....i believe the latter

point 2. the lsu job isn't the gem that its made out to be. exhibit a- 2016- the only person who seriously wanted the job was the dl coach who was given the interim tag, exhibit b- 2021- overpaying for a solid coach who was a comically bad fit for this job because they had no real interest despite splitting with orgeron a month earlier. not saying this will happen again but i wouldn't expect people to be beating down the door to get here especially considering the comments from the gov and the appearance of lsu reneging the buyout. not calling the shot, but get comfortable with the idea of hc frank wilson
