The Muschamp stuff seems to be more speculation of people putting 2 and 2 together.

I don't think Jimbo is a done deal yet, much less putting staff in place

Well since a coach that the rumors are about currently coaches at the school I'm a fan of it should be pretty obvious why I care.

The rumors don't seem likely to me because of money and I don't think Muschamp would leave to be a DC anywhere.

And lol at you thinking y'all would be willing to shell out that much more than Auburn.

Boom and Jimbo are very close if that factors in at all.

Our Defense sucks and has sucked for a long time. Our defense now is light years from where it was at the beginning of the year.

The young guys that he brought in this year seem to be impressive so far. Any reasonable Auburn fan knew he wasn't rebuilding the defense instantly.

That said it did take a little longer to see improvement on D than we were expecting. But yes we're very happy with him.

Bro. Per the LSU athletic website, Les Miles is the coach of LSU. Not sure how true it is.

I have to act like I somewhat believe the rumors or this thread will be whacked

I just wanted to get a feel for how they felt about shelling out that much money

The $ won't be the issue if Boom comes.

If he feels the Gus Bus is headed for a cliff, I suppose he could jump. Again this is all pretty premature, Jimbo isn't even in the boat try.

he's making 5mil this year but that escalates. He has another 7 years on his deal guaranteeing him another $39mil so from here he's averaging over $5.5m

Orgeron will bolt if a head coach offer comes his way. Cameron's contract is up. Wilson and Raymond stand a good chance of being retained for recruiting and continuity. That only leaves Peveto, Steele, Grimes, and Ball. None of those guys makes a boatload, and all but Peveto would likely coach somewhere next year, making their buyouts minimal.

Miles will have ANY income over the next few years subtracted from his buyout. That includes broadcast money if he takes a a year or two off from coaching. However, with jobs like Illinois and ISU out there, he could be right back to work at a school where he would be a good fit. In the end, his buyout could very well end up less than eight figures.

We done the highest paid staff in the FBS thing before. I imagine Alleva is gearing up to do it again.

LSU don't want Muschamp. He's not done anything since he left Saban. Saban runs the defenses, his DC's are in name only. Smart is just like Muschamp without Saban.

I was simply adding actual information
quote:

this is pure conjecture. The guy hasn't even been fired yet so he certainly hasn't agreed to the buyout. And while not unprecedented, broadcast money being offset is exceedingly rare and something I'd be shocked if Bass agreed to unless there is something else Les wants as a tradeoff
quote:

Nothing Alleva has done over the last year suggests he's gearing up to spend more money. The unprecedented Miles clause and the tight budget Les was given to replace Chavis actually suggests quite the opposite, that he's pinching pennies. Maybe he was just screwing Miles because he wanted him out

I'm not saying I know anything. I don't. But your post comes across more as wishful thinking than reading the tea leaves

The unprecedented Miles clause

The only thing unprecedented about the Miles clause is that Chavis wanted to be the only assistant coach in the country with long term job security. First, he sits on his lazy arse and doesn't recruit any defensive depth, especially at his prized linebacker postion, then he begs for longterm security even though he was part of the highest paid assistant coaching staff in the country.

Tell that dude to keep his head on a swivel in Tiger Stadium this Saturday.
