You don’t need a smoke screen for a coach that is currently employed. If it was Chris, he’d already be named.

If it were him, it would already be announced. There’s no reason to delay the announcement

Not if they’re negotiating comp, buyouts, assistants etc. also intrigued by the possibility that he is the fallback. Shoot for Riley, Rhule, whoever but know you have a Petersen in your back pocket. Feel a lot better about that than the generally accepted second tier of Tucker, Napier and Aranda.

think petersen is in play

He is very much in play. Do a little research.

Right after O was fired, he got mentioned in several articles. Then it’s like he completely disappeared in articles other than being mentioned that SW hired him, Jimbo and KM.

There are plenty of recent mentions for him as a candidate for TCU and USC.

Petersen hasn’t come out and said he not interested (like he did last year).

Lots of talk on UW side that he was as frustrated with boosters as he needed to “recharge”.

Mostly speculation on my part - but - I think Woody’s proposition is this : pay him (almost) stupid money - 5 years, $68 million. Have the best shot he can at an NC.

Word is Petersen isn’t “all about” money and accolades, but that doesn’t mean they are meaningless to him.

Guy’s net worth is around $11 million right now. This transforms it for him. It increases his ability to do more and with more visibility to spread his message.

It fits the MO of SW with the big time hire seemingly out of the blue.

He is not a fall back! Me just me saying I believe he has been the guy since the season started. I’ll go as far back as the 2020 season… just me

We don’t need a smokescreen to hire Chris Peterson. Unless USC is a player for him.

Chill with the exclamation points. I’ve posted multiple times today that Petersen would be the Johnson like hire. You’re no Nostradamus. . .

I have wanted CP at LSU since he was at Boise. Instead we had a mouth-breathing grass eater on the sidelines. Outside of Riley or Fickell/Rhule (neither of which would come), it would be CP. Then Aranda.
